Calvin Christian School

Calvin offers a Christ-Centered education. I enjoy the service learning aspect of the school. I also enjoy the fact that my children are being educated in the fine arts and have a PE teacher who specialized in Physical Education.

Our 3 daughters went to Calvin and now our grandson goes there! They've received a wonderful education that prepared them for excellent careers. The sense of community and love for the Lord makes it a wonderful experience. We highly recommend Calvin Christian School!

Calvin Christian Highschool was an awesome place to learn. It allowed me to study, do extracurriculars, and volunteer throughout my 4 years there. This not only made me feel great, but helped me get into college. It completely prepares you for college,from challenging curriculum to assignments to time management. The staff is great and the teachers are easily accessible and passionate about what they teach. I loved it all around!

We are very glad that we sent our child to Calvin. The teachers have been wonderful, they have shown us that they care about their students and have worked with our child to help him be more successful. Academically I feel this is a strong school that has well prepared our child for college. Calvin has been a wonderful positive experience for our family.

Our kids LOVE school! After moving from out of state, we were so thankful for the option of a Christian school in the area. Although we were new to Southern California, Calvin is not. Since 1961 Calvin has shown it's excellence in educating students for success in college and life, in acquiring and keeping quality teachers, and in their partnership between the principals and parent-led board. As parents, we love these qualities, but our kids love how this plays out during each day. They love the Biblical world-view brought out in each subject, taught from loving, wise teachers, in the company of the friends they've made. Going to Calvin is a financial commitment and sacrifice but one that we've chosen because this kind of education is worth that much to us!

I had 1 child in this school and it was awful. We wanted a good solid christian school for our kids but this school was not for us. Most of time I felt like I was in Middle School being pushed out by the popular kids, and that is just how I felt with most of the staff and parents. If your child has special needs or a different learning style you may have a very hard time here. The academics are not strong here we ended up teaching my daughter to read at home before it was taught in class. I have heard this same issue from a few parents who have left the school. If you are not from a family who has grown up in this school it's very hard to break in. We chose Classical Academy who welcomed us and our children and it has been wonderful. This is just my opinion and this school may be great for some but treated us horribly.

Calvin Christian school has been a wonderful experience and blessing for our family. People are positive, teachers are genuinely concerned for our kids to achieve their best performance, and no student is a number. They can all participate in sports, music, theater, debate teams, and the list goes on. Parents can be involved as much or as little as they wish. No school is perfect, but when we hear about other schools, we are always so thankful for Calvin. Calvin gives our kids a wonderful Christian foundation which is so important to build the rest of their lives on.

Calvin Christian School is a fantastic school. We have sent all four of our children here starting in Kindergarten (our youngest attended preschool), and they have all had an excellent academic education and have grown tremendously in their Christian walk. The teachers are all Christians who love their students. They watch out for them and keep in constant touch with the parents, The administrators are very accessible for questions and/or concerns, and after our kids have gone on to college, they have been very well prepared for the change, both academically and socially. Every one of our kids have been involved in sports and the music program. It's been wonderful to see them feel comfortable enough to try different programs to use their talents.

The quality of the academic curriculum is unparalleled, the teachers are dedicated-thoughtful-caring and encouraging. Calvin offers fine arts, sports, and many extras such as environments sensitive to allergies. But the thing that makes Calvin so distinctive among -not just private schools, but Christian private schools is the natural ability developed in each child to not only rely on Jesus but to extend and apply biblical principals in their everyday lives. I sub teach at other Christian schools throughout San Diego county & I can tell you for a fact the students in other Christian schools do not have the natural biblical insight and leadership that I observe in all ages of CCS students. My kids will be bold Christian leaders with a deep understanding of other faith no matter what profession they take later in life because of how CCS is equipping and shaping their biblical world view. For us- giving our kids 1 hour of Sunday school a week simply was not enough to impact the future for Christ and equip our kids in that mission. Calvin Christian School integrates the whole child. Our kids have made friends for life and we are a part of a wonderful community at Calvin.

Calvin encourages, challenges, and helps shape my four children to have an impact on the world around them. It gives me comfort and joy to know that the teachers and administration know each child's name and pray for all the students daily. I also appreciate the fellowship and friendship of the Calvin Christian community. We feel very blessed to be part of Calvin and highly recommend it to others.
