Avoid this school! Unless you want your child bullied by teachers. If your child doesn't fit their mold I can guarantee your child will be ostracized. I'm getting ready to make a call to the Dept. Of Education with my concerns. Please take the time to review these reviews. I didn't and I regret it to the fullest.

This is my son's fourth year attending Forestville School and our experience is very different than many of the reviews I have just read. Without exception his teachers have been professional, caring and attentive. The facilities are well maintained and there is a sense of pride among a strong majority of parents and kids. There is a good deal of parental involvement and well mannered, friendly and happy kids are the norm. Having moved here just four years ago, I was quickly impressed with the general culture of the school which is consistent with the accepting, friendly, quality of life and healthy rural tone of this area. I'm at a loss to explain the bad experiences shared in some of the school's reviews. We've not encountered anything close, in fact, my son found himself befriending kids of all ages and grades in short order; he loves his school.

Truly an awful school with a giant gaping lack of resources. Put in a lot of thought before sending your child here!

I went to this school from 1st grade until march of 7th grade, and this school is horrendous. Forestville school is bully and hate-infested, the staff provided little to no support and teachers often picked favorites and often yelled and used excessive scare tactics to enforce discipline. The after-school programs and sports are also an unsafe enviroment, other students often get jealous or unaccepting of others and decide to make sure they are too uncomfortable to attend. I do not recommend this school to anyone. I had to leave early and transfer beacuse I was harassed so much for being overweight I had severe depression for most of my life. This school ruined my childhood.

I am a native here and I attended Forestville School as well as El Molino HS. My children also attended both schools. This school may have some bulling as others are saying. It is not something I have seen that doesn't happen in other schools. Also it is my belief that in other schools it is more than bullying it gets physical. I must say that the staff at this school is not only knowledgeable but understanding and caring of the children's needs. Thank you Forestville School for being the best you can be!

Sadly I must agree with many of the negative reviews here. I can also attest to the fact that there is very little that stays confidential at this school. So many of the staff are local, have children and relatives in the community, and any event that happens will quickly be shared and spread. I do think there are some exceptional teachers here. Unfortunately there are some awful ones as well. After complaining about the (bullying) type of treatment my child received from one teacher, the principal claimed that she had never heard such a thing about the teacher. As I talked to other parents and children over the following months I found that couldn't possibly be true. How sad that she would choose a bullying teacher over a child. I also found that discipline and harsh judgement was handed out in a partial way. The students of parents that were friends of staff got off lightly for any transgression while others were shamed and subject to rumor and gossip. I think it is possible to have a good experience here, just watch out for the pitfalls.

I took my child out of this school because of not just kids bullying kids but also school teachers or helpers bullying my child along with her daughter. ths was not just happening during school but as well after school and on face book. After complaining to the school as it was supposed to be confidential and was not word got around within 1 day started recieving ph. calls from various other parents saying this has become the talk of the town. Not sure what ever got accomplished with the yard duty teacher that along with her daughter and friends but she is still working there and from what I hear is still hanging out with the kids causing trouble. Also the school does nothing to detour kids from bullying other kids. The school has not progressed since I went there 40 years ago. my daughter now goes to a different school and has many friends. Something about Forestville school seems the kids have to only mix with a hand full of kids if they have to many friends other kids get jelouse. The school really needs to improve Forestville School is not good for education or acedemics, and so much goes wrong from the ground up. Happy to have gotten away.

I have found this school very enriching for my children. Parent involvement is exceptional and far greater than any other school I have seen. There are always parents who want to blame the school or the administration for their own woes. I suspect that is a lot of what is being posted here. While there are some parents in the community that have sent their kids elsewhere, there are also many children who have come from out of district to be at this school for the positive programs and environment. I say if you want to help your school, be a positive influence on its staff, children and community. You will get out of a school what you put into it as a parent and citizen.

I am dissappointed with Forestville School. there is no leadership with the Principal at the School. After reading what is a good principal...oh my she has but two of the qualities. She also is big on favoritism towards staff and students. I am sorry to have to remove my child.

I have two children that attend Forestville School and I also have experienced a lot of difficulties with teachers and staff. A lot of homework has been misplaced or labeled missing when it has been graded and returned home. Some of the teachers and teachers aids tend to be extremely rude to the children.

We have tried 3 schools in the West County and Forestville Academy/Elem are by far the best in the area. The drama dept is incredible! The teachers are so caring and wonderful. One of my kids transfered in mid year and we shocked at how far behind her old school was. It took 2 months to catch up. I highly recommend both schools.

I must say that Forestville Academy has been the worst school my son has been to. Particular teachers have been extremely inapropriate and rude. I would recomend it to nobody.

I could not ask for more support for my 7th grade boy than is provided by the Academy staff. I absolutely see positive reaction to limit bullying and have found the extracurricular activites and staff to be the best.

I am a parent of two children that have been at Forestville School and Academy for 7 years. We have seen it go from a good school with lots of parent involvment to a below average with many serious problems such as bullying and harrassment. This is the only school in our small community and many of my neighbors have removed thier children and placed them in other schools due to problems with bullys and harrassment. When it was brought to the attention of the current administration, the parents were ignored and told that it was thier children's fault and it must be coming from the home environment. I thought that school administrators were supposed to be advocates for our children. As for the GATE program that Forestville Academy says that they have, it is non-existent.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
