I will tell you how i feel about this school, California School for the Deaf Fremont. I hope you understand how i feel about this. I feel this school give me hard time and I have a lot problem with Teachers. They give me suspends for no reason. I feel frustrated with this school. Why? I feel that Teacher and Principal oppress us. When I tried to tell Teachers or Principal how i feel or something else. But They always oppress us. Or can even ignore us feel. I really hate this school so much. I did tell my parent that I want to move to other school. But my parent really want stay here because this state beautiful natural and weather. And point is i need some supports and helps. Thanks for reading this :)
I'm 7th grade student in the first year of Middle school. I don't like my school because they did a lot of abuse like demanding to pick up teacher's stuff and clean teacher's desk. Plus, they are giving kids a hard time. They act like they are smarter than students. We are victims. This is my first year at CSDF and I want to go back to my old school. But many of our parents fought back but they think they are powerful than us, so please help and protect us for students' sake.
Too many bullies, and very strict staffs. Staffs are no good because they never listen to me. They just ignore me and punish me for no reason. I suggest you to not go there because they treat me like kid and ****.
Great to see the test scores added but if the great school folks came to see what we were doing they would see we are far above a 2. Because all of our students are Deaf, most are Limited English Proficient. Having a positive index, +23, shows we are pulling up the standards of learning for Deaf students throughout California.
California School for the Deaf has given my children many opportunities to grow and learn! They have full access to their natural language and they are expcted to learn just as everyone else in any regular public school! As a parent I am welcomed on a daily basis to all programs, my children's classes and to partake in committees and share my ideas for improvement and growth! There is not another school that I would want my children to attend!
I can't imagine a better school than CSDF to place deaf children in. The education system there is top-notch and I pray that any parents with deaf children will consider CSDF first thing before placing them in mainstreamed schools.
awesome place to work at. i love working with the kids and seeing their growth while being assist from the staff :)
CSD addresses each child's individual needs and makes language and communication a priority via American Sign Language+English bilingual instructional strategies. We search out and implement innovative practices and are always striving to make our school site the best academic and social environment for deaf students and their families. We are also fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools & Programs for the Deaf. Our academic, career, athletic, guidance counseling and residential programs enable students to develop life skills which allow them to be successful and competitive in the majority culture that they face on a daily basis out in the world. Our parent education program provides support, sound information and guidance in how to raise a healthy deaf child. Our students come back year after year to visit us and many stay connected to our school and community. I have been a teacher here for many years and have visited many other school programs for deaf students and it is still clear to me why the California School for the Deaf in Fremont maintains its stellar international reputation.
California School for the Deaf is where Deaf children come to LEARN, EXPERIENCE, and THRIVE in a positive, nurturing environment rooted in Deaf culture and American Sign Language. Students are empowered with a strong Deaf identity, literacy and language skills, as well as technological skills to help them become contributing citizens in the world. This is a great place to work.
As a graduate, then a parent of a child attending CSD, then an employee, I can say with certainty this school is the cream of the crop, if not the cherry. There's not enough time or space here to describe what they do for the students AND the parents. CSD understands the confusion parents have over their child's education, so they spend time with parents, keeping communication lines open, offering ASL classes so families can communicate with each other, and just so many things. How CSD interacts with, supports, and encourages the parents is amazing. And that's just one small factor of CSD's character. The other thing? CSD recognizes each child is different but they all deserve and are expected to do and be their best. Teachers are genuine and take their responsibilities to heart. The majority of students respect each other and the staff, and differences are put aside to focus on the students. If you have any other doubts, consider this. CSD received a full 6 year's accreditation from WASC...during a year when staff were out almost 1/4 - 1/2 the time due to forced furloughs from the required by the Sacramento Government That in itself should say something.
CSD Fremont is an amazing school like no other. It has an army of dedicated staff who look at improving our students' "whole person" including their academics, social emotional needs, expanding their world knowledge and confidence to go on to become leaders in their community and world at large. I am so proud to be part of a community of educators and learners who have such a commitment to excellence. All deaf and hard of hearing students in Northern California should be coming to CSD. Many people I run into think that since it is such an excellent school and provides so much to the students/families that there is a tuition for families or that parents need to pay for room/board if they live far. This is NOT TRUE! IT IS 100% FREE EDUCATION for deaf/hoh students. Come by and see for yourself what an amazing school it is. I wish my children were deaf so they could come to CSD. It truly is like no other school I know. (This is an anonymous posting, so no I'm not getting a raise for this post. Ha!)
Great environment for a deaf K-12 student to flourish and be independent due to many wonderful Deaf role models at the campus. Where else can a deaf student interact with her deaf peers? Where else can a deaf student communicate without relying on the interpreters? Where else can a deaf student experience the true Deaf culture? Where else can a deaf student thrive through a well recognized school internationally? I may be biased mainly because I am a teacher at this school yet I have traveled over 60 countries and visited many schools. Almost of all encounters that I've met at the deaf schools, they have heard of this school and are striving to learn more resources from here!
The school has wonderful teachers! It is a great educational environment for all deaf children.
