Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I'm a seventh grader at Hopkins but I love it so far. The teachers are nice, the material is interesting, and the library is awesome. There are lots of clubs and electives to suit everyone's interests. Our school is the best in academics, sports, and anything else you can come up with. GO HAWKS!

School in general is good mainly due to devoted students and parents. Some tenured teachers do not teach anything and get away since it is a public school.Very competitive and parental involvement is very high to the extent that kids get exclusive coaching so that their kids can get into to the science and math bowl teams. If some kids are gifted, talented but not get coaching, they get filtered out by the tests and not get a chance to participate in the bowl teams. Facilities are horrible compared to other middle schools in Fremont.. The common theme in Fremont is since Mission is rich, parents can raise money for facilities and the school got shortchanged by politics in FUSD for a very long time. The truth is 90% of attending kids are middle class and since they are paying very high property taxes, a fair share should be given back for facility improvement.

This school is great, my younger sibling loves it and the teachers are great BUT the front office staff is incredibly rude. I came to pick up my younger sibling due to an emergency but the office people wouldn't let me at first, they didn't even look up the form where my name and signature CLEARLY is where emergency contacts are and for picking her up. I had to tell them that i am one of those people and then they looked it up. Other than that this school is really great just SOME of the office staff (SOME of them are rude but the other people i talked to were very kind and helpful)

Very impressive school and student body. Highly motivated and dedicated students and some terrific teachers as well esp. the band director who is exceptional. The band program is outstanding. If your child likes music, Hopkins is the place. It's a rigorous school but your child will be well-prepared for any college.

Great school. Some of the teachers are legends. One even gives you a t-shirt if you ace one of his tests (which is pretty rarely.) When the old principal, Leesa Jack, passed away, we got a nice principal and a very cool vce principal. Unfortunately, they only stayed long enough for the school to get a new one. As of 2009-10, (in my opnion) we have a principal who is very... into keeping discipline. i never knew she could catch up to people who ran in high heels. But the teachers are great.

Band program is pure dead brilliant. The other teachers are pretty much hit or miss...some of them are phenomenal, and some of them are just dreadful. Needs a makeover, the campus.

I am currently an 8th grader here, and this is the 2008-9 year i am reviewing. The teachers really vary when it comes to strenuousness. The honors programs, (especially science, and maybe english,) are extremely difficult, yet fun and enlightenting at the same time. The band program is just brilliant. Period. As for the principal, the old one, Lessa Jack, was very kind. We currently have a substitute principal, as she has passed away, so I have really no idea about next year's. To the honors kids, the tests from a certain teacher, *coughrickscoughcough* are the main concern. The parents tend to really pressure the kids, and this may attribute to how good of a school this is, yet probably not all of it. The students tend to be more respectful here, at least, toward the teachers. To each other, though, its a different story. In general, a great school.

Competitive school and average teachers, but terrible vice principal (views of student, not teacher or parent).

Although many people overlook Hopkins to be either very challenging or too self-esteemed, they are completely wrong. Hopkins revolves around a great body of teachers, who provide very challenging courses, however makes sure you learn as much as you can. The classes can meet your level, spite the fact of [non]Honors. Some teachers do prefer you learn by yourself, but they are still good teachers ! Academics-wise, Hopkins greatly prospers, having finalists in the Science Bowl, Math Counts, all over the country. Sports-wise, Hopkins is also one of the most challenging teams in the district in basketball and volleyball and golf. And, of course, the band program is absolutely amazing, under the leadership of Gregory Conway. No comment besides that. At the same time, the students love to have fun and have a good time !(socials/spiritdays) i love this school! Go Hawks!

this school is excellent. This is my first year here, and yet, I already know that this school is one of the best schools in california! Whether it be sports, in which we always win, or academics, in which we are good as well, or orchestra, in which we have a fantastic director(gregory conway) we are one very good school. Go Hopkins Hawks!! Whoo!!:)

This is a really good school. Some of the teachers prefer the kids to learn more by themselves than actually in class. It has an outstanding academic record and a great music program. I read the other reviews and I don't care how the school looks. It's a great school and that's it.

This school is utterly amazing(: I'm in eighth grade, and i have enjoyed this school very much. There are amazing spirit days, and the students are all focused and determined. It's not that this school is challenging; the teachers will out you in classes that match your standards. However more is expected of the students. There are many extracurricular programs and clubs available that suit every interest. The school is not just all-round educational. They all love to have fun, and enjoy the spirit days till the utmost best and have fun at the socials. GO HOPKINS HAWKS<3

Very poor administration. Some instructors are very unprofessional, doing little or no teaching, or very poor teaching in class, and showing not the minimum sense of responsibility.

As a student currently attending this school, I don't find much academic pressure except for the fact that students who attended this school in the past were found to be advanced in their studies. This school, for me, is just like any other school-friendly students, fun spirit days,a but in addition us students have a lot of enthusiasm and are motivated more to expect ourselves of higher grades. We just have higher expectations, but that doesn't mean we are pressured and that school is not fun!

I have two kids who attend(ed) this school. The school maintains outstanding academic standard and offers wide variety of courses. This school is only for the most hard working, motivated kids. Look elsewhere if you are looking for fun, cool school.

This school is so over rated. Most of the success came from student's and parent's devotion and deciplines. Not much has anything to do by the school. We couldn't wait to get out of it.
