Profile Completeness

ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This is a great school with strong academics and Christian values. The principal cares for the staff as well as the parents and the students. It is a safe environment.

I have one boy who has been in the preschool, and will be moving into the kindergarten this year, and another son who is going to be entering the preschool. We have had a great experience in the preschool. One of my wife's key things is she wants a safe bully free environment. They also have a very caring staff. They just got a new principal who worked in their discovery program(their department for working with kids who have challenges learning). I am looking forward to seeing how they will implement the discovery program in all the classrooms. For me looking back I know I kind of slipped through and could have used some extra time. So having teachers being trained by her to focus on every students learning style will be huge.

My experience with Kimber Hills is with the preschool, and I have been so pleased with the teachers and the program the past two years. The teachers and the director have been proactive and responsive in communicating with me, and they have been engaging, understanding, nurturing and motivating with my son. I have noticed that the teachers really work together, too. The preschool really has a close-community feel. As far as program goes, I like that it is very structured and exposes the kids to such a variety of experiences so that the skills and concepts can be learned and reinforced through several different ways. I think that really helps reach each child. I'm confident that my son will be more than ready for Kindergarten in the fall, and I can't wait for my youngest to start the Toddler program this summer.

My oldest son has attended this school since Pre-school and now is in the 7th grade and I cannot say enough about the quality of the education, teacher caring, staff and overall attention our kids receive at this school. My younger son is also attending this school from Pre-school and now he is in 2nd grade and he is loving it. The Junior High program is the best and the many changes done in the past years have been tremendous and positive. Christian Community School has been the best choice for our children education.

CCS is a great school! Staff is encouraging and willing to see my child for the INDIVIDUAL that she is. I appreciate that they are open to parent input and react quickly. Teacher quality has greatly improved in the last few years with many teachers holding their credentials and some even having a Master's degree. This school is very involved in embracing Christian values such as God, country, and family. The school is positive and embracing without being "preachy". I love this school and encourage the administration to keep up the positive changes and hope that the great new teachers make CCS their permanent home.

My older son attended CCS from K-8. From there he went onto public high school where he excelled in honors courses and extracurricular activities. Now in college, he is a 4.0 student and will graduate with honors. He received an excellent education at CCS and we are so glad we made the commitment to his education there. Our younger son is now attending CCS and is in the 7th grade. The education standards are still excellent. The teachers in the younger grades are caring and nurturing; in the middle school grades they are open and encouraging. The school is dedicated to top quality education and to preparing the students for all the opportunities awaiting them in secondary school and beyond. I have also enjoyed how the administration welcomes parent involvment and includes parents in decision making processes. Thank you CCS! FYI-regarding the review about time in Chapel- students spent approx. one hour per week in chapel. Not excessive at all.

Christian Community Schools was rated the Best of 2009 in Fremont, CA. I completely agree. The school has a staff and administrators who have been there for over 20 years. They carry on the tradition of Christian values by honoring God with prayer and reverence. They are committed to teach your child with patience and focus on the curriculum. Bible is a class taught from K to 8. Parent teacher conferences are conducted every trimester to go over your child's grades and listen to your concerns and for the teacher to involve the parent at home to improve your child's learning together from classroom to your home. Every year, there is a Christmas story musical, sports where every student is given a chance to try out, talent shows, science fairs, open house, rollercoaster competition. At one time, there was even a rocket launch activity and field trip. This is a school to engage your child in multiple ways, make history fun, explore science exhibits in the area, challenge your child with learning habits that will last into their later years. Go visit and speak to the administrators, you will be impressed. Ask for the financial aid. Sign up and watch your child enjoy.

My children have all attended CCS. My eldest daughter has gone to high school and my two younger ones are still attending. The staff is a tremendous help, always willing to listen and be flexible and accommodating to my child. My children excelled in all classes, because the teachers make the subject interesting. They also plan field trips to augment the classroom learning. I am thankful of my child is learning the bible every year. They are not thrilled of this class, but learning the word of God at their age builds the foundation for later revelation. I recommend this school for the pastoral staff, the administrative staff and the faculty--all superb. If you child is in to learning with other good students, this is the school. I highly recommend CCS.

Not recommended: Children spend way to much time on Chapel activities when they should be learning more about academics. Staff is very uncomfortable to be around and don't treat all the children fairly. Incident after incident the staff always states they didn't see what happened.

The school year is finally over and my children will be moving on to their next grade level. I believe that they both have been well prepared for what they will encounter next year and given the current state of our public schools in the area, I feel that my children are able to learn in a safe environment with consistent teaching. There were homework challenges this year, but my children can sometimes put off what they should do now and leave it for the last minute. I looking forward to the upper elementary next year and seeing how my children will grow in their academics. I can definitely say that my children have become better people because of how the teaching staff poured their lives into my children and their development. Keep it up CCS!

I think the school has amazing extracurricular activities such as art, music and computers. I see the curriculum being uneven from grade level to grade level. Mr. Lopez is doing a great job as principal, yet I see that a few teachers have created cliques that make it difficult for everyone to work together. Parents are wonderful and very involved.

One thing that is taught at CCS and Fremont Community Church is the principle of Matthew 18. This passage states that if you have a problem with a brother that you speak to that brother and if he does not listen, then you bring a friend along. If that does not work, then you speak to the Elders. I have spoken with the teachers and administrators on occasions and have not been turned away and have been heard and my level of understanding and support of CCS has increased. I would encourage you to do the same.

Teaching staff is constantly changing making activities and policies very inconsistent. If your in need of a school that focuses more on Christian values then this school might be considered but if your in need of top level academics then look elsewhere. Parents are not very involved for events. Concerned Parent.

Returning to Christian Community Schools after several years of leaving, I have to say how excited I am to see the continued growth of the campus academically and spiritually. The administration has been very welcoming and supportive as well as the teachers. Their warm hearts and excitement for teaching is just what the students need.

This school has been awesome for my daughter. There are so many great activities that they do with the kids and great Biblical teaching and application. The staff communication with parents is great as well.

The school has policies that seem to change daily; teachers and the principle Mr Lopez are constantly out of sync. Some class rooms are over crowded. A major change in leadership is needed ASAP to save the school.

I have 2 children who have been attending CCS for the last 3 years. My daughter who is now in Kindergarten really loves school. I was so impressed to find how many extra curricular activities she participates in. From drama in her chapel, computer class, art class, music and PE, she is given so many opportunities to learn and experience life in addition to all that she is learning within her classroom. Mr. Lopez (K-8 Principal) has asked me several times (when he has seen me on campus) how we are adjusting to Kindergarten and to let me know that he always has an open door policy and encourages me to give him any feedback at any time. He expresses genuine interest in my family and especially the kind of care my daughter is receiving at CCS. My son, who is currently in Preschool, is rambunctious and fun loving. The teachers are well educated in how to manage and teach young children. He is quickly learning and excelling academically as well as socially. I often talk with the Preschool director, Mrs. Hurst, and she has given me insightful examples and responses to questions I may have about my child s overall development. It is easy to see that the Preschool teachers love their jobs and have been called into this very important ministry. I also appreciate that fact the most CCS teachers attend the church, Fremont Community Church. This gives a sense of family and care for one another outside of just having an occupation.

Our family loves CCS!! They are so focused on the needs of each individual child. They have helped us build a strong Christian foundation for our 3 children. Academically they are right on! We appreciate the caring teachers and staff who are always willing to help. I highly recommend this school for PreSchool-8th grade!

Sometimes we as parents feel that some of the school teachers and the director of the pre-school are not very caring and friendly. This kind of feeling almost made us decide to transfer our kid out of this school. We strongly believe that a teacher must have a big heart of loving, caring and patience in order to lead and educate the young toddlers by being the role model. This character is even more important for the director. On the other hand, we think the academic programs and extracurricular activities could be improved. For example, asking a few old kid to take two hour nap is really overwhelming for these who don't like to do so. Of course, there are many truly extraordinary teachers with great heart of love in this school as well. Overall, we do like the school.

Wonderful school! Caring, qualified teachers. Strong academics and Christian teaching! Beautiful campus. They also have art, music, band, computers, sports, and lots of fun activities such as science fairs, Harvest Festival, etc. In addition, they have a super preschool and jr. kindergarten program for younger siblings (nice playground!). Highly recommended!

It is a nice school, it looks like the parents have to do the work at home. At least in kindergarden was like that. Most of teacher are nice. I will recommend the school but only for kids which are very self motived.

Teacher quality is variable. School requires teachers to be members of the church which reduces the pool of possible teachers and can impact quality. The school is small which can lead to more clique related issues in jr. high.

Academically it's pretty good, but if you are looking for Christian role models in the teachers, you might want to go elsewhere.
