I feel the school or the school district needs to revise the 'write up procedures'. Secondly, it sadens me that the teachers send home so much homework and the schools policy is 15 minutes per year of grade.
hard-working staff. dedicated principal.congenial office staff. orderly campus. attractive grounds. great test scores.
This school needs to focus more on academia rather than on raising money.
It is very unfortunate that a few parents use this site to vent their personal frustrations with the office staff. Overall, Mission Valley is an excellent school. It's office staff is extremely efficient, despite perceptions that it is rude. The principal is outstanding and highly regarded in the community and district. Of course not all teachers teach the same. All students do not learn the same. All parents do not parent the same. All that aside, when you look at the school, its success, the students' success and happiness, it's a great school! So don't slam it here in such a public forum. Instead, be thankful to be at such a great school!
The school has some really good teachers but, academically some classes work more than the others at the same grade level. The homework policies ( in terms of homework and extra challenge worksheets) differ from room to room and year to year at each grade level. When asked, neither the low-performing teacher nor the administration staff has any answer. But, definitely, looking atthe positive sides, the school is much better than many other worse school in the city. Till the time, the problems are solved, Be positive!
Mission Valley could be better in every way if we could get rid of the admin people & get some new caring loving people on board. The front office staff are hopeless, no manners whatsoever & the school district does not pay any attention. Principal is inefficeint too. Look at the ratings. Why does the school district ignore all the complaints? The new principal will be a refreshing change & hope she implements new standards like the previous principal. Ppeople who do not care about children should not be involved in a school system.
As parents we do not deserve to be treated so rude by the office staff, those ladies ought not to be around children. This is a serious problem and the problem has trickled down from the top. Too much emphasis on having high academic standards. If a child needs extra help with a subject, it is not available and parents are encouraged to move the child to another school.
I have to agree with parent/s who gave opinion on Oct 2003, that Mission Valley's front office staff no doubt discourages parents from communicating on any matter. At this time the school needs to pay attention on the improvement of its customer relations service before it loses its reputation. Other than that this is great school with great teachers.
This school is excellent in many ways. Good students, good teachers, and good support from parents. Parent involvement has declined somewhat in the last few years, but is still very high.
This is a school with good teachers and a lot of potential but is hampered by weak administration. We transfered from another school that had a lot more parent involvement. It is unfortunate that the attitudes of Mission Valley's front office staff discourages parents from contributing. The teachers are really great but the school could be a lot better if they fix the administrative staffing situation.
All 3 of my children are currently attending Mission Valley and I feel that the parent and staff involvement is very important to help better our children's education and Mission Valley does that.....
