My son attended the SDC class at Birney for going on 3 years now & since his first year I've been having issues with the quality of education & support my son received. They have no interest in providing the education he needs to be a successful student. My son & I both have been nothing unhappy with this school!

Birney is a great school. The teachers and principal are great and are always there to help parents. The After School program is yet the best program ever. The After School Program Staff not only serve as tutor and teachers but as well as role models for our children. I have a daughter who attended there for K- 6th grade and now will have two daughters there this school year 08-09. As a parent I highly recommend this school.

Birney is a great school. The teachers are great. The after school program is the best!! They have a lot of great activities for the kids and parent involvement is strongly encouraged. As for discipline, I feel the principal has done a wonderful job of involving me and applying the appropriate discipline for my son. I have three kids who attend Birney for 3 years now. I would highly reccommend this school to my family, friends and anyone looking for a wonderful school for their children to attend.

I believe Birney Elemantary to be a good school. Academic programs are available for those who need extra help and are reliable and effective. Music is not an option here, but they do have an art teacher that visits occasionally and the kids really enjoy this. They have some sport activities like football and volleyball. They provide classes for parents of a wide range of topics that are very helpfull to those needing instruction. They involve the family as much as possible with activities like family bingo night and award assemblies that they encourage parents to attend. All the teachers my children have had were and are great teachers who care about their students. Parent involvement in the classroom is welcome by most teachers, and I believe plays an important role in student success.

Alice Birney School could be one of the greatest schools, however, parent support is low. The parent Teacher Committee is almost non-existent. Parents in general do not support the administration and often point the finger at the school for trying to discipline their children. Instead of working together as a team, the parents often times are confrontational and make excuses for their child's bad behavior. It could be a great school if more parents were involved in their own child's education and supported the teachers and administration.
