Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

What an amazing school! The staff is so welcoming and approachable. The diversity is so beautiful. The parents are well involved and the students all seem to get along really well. Very well organized and the school is maintained nicely. Very happy to have my children attending Kratt.

I love the diversity at this school. When principal Duff was there he was really hands on. He was always out & about talking to everyone. The kids really liked him. The teachers all seem to really care about the students learning and succeeding. My son is currently attending. You know you have good teachers when kids are happy to go back to school after a fun summer.

This is a great school with caring teachers and great staff. My son thinks they give out too much homework but I know that it's only because they want their students to succeed.

I enjoy having my boys grow up at Kratt. It's really a parent/teacher/staff involvement with your child type of school. I've seen my children succeed because of the involvement I've had with their various teachers and staff. It's a community that you'd like to be a part of once you've stepped in realized this is a great school!

I have seen a tremendous change for the good in Kratt since my daughter first began attending in 2003. Parents and teachers now want to be involved and get excited about what's going on at Kratt. I am proud to have my children attend Kratt, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Kratt Elementary is a school in transition. A high principal turnover combined with weak administrative skills left the school with a general lack of consistent standards made this as a school to avoid among area residents. This situation was compounded by the appearance of a complacent -if not apathetic faculty. Extra curriculum programs were minimal -if none existent. There was also a perceived general lack of discipline and accountability in the actions of its students. Under the leadership of Principal Terri Bricker things have changed. There are parenting classes. The active participation in community events utilizing outside educational programs and grants. She has to set a high professional and ethical standards and goals for both faculty and students. This is a woman who, rain or shine, has assumed the responsibilities of crossing guard to assure the safety of her students. Making a point to personally greet them and their parents both coming and going from school.

Kratt is a school that struggles like the majority of schools in this district with meager funding.

My child went to Kratt Elem. for two years and I was extremly disappointed. First and foremost, I was disappointed in the leadership that the school has been appointed, as well as the low expectation that the teachers have for their students.

My daughter attended for this time here the second half of her first grade year. Her teacher made sure she felt welcomed. They have many after school programs and extracurricular activities for the kids. There is much parent involvement and they are always looking for ways to fundraise to have better opportunities for the kids.

Overall, good school. Diverse population that draws from many ethnic and socio-economic groups. There is perhaps an over-emphasis on test scores and 'academic rigor' that is unnecessary. Teachers seem competent, if a little wary of parent input. Administration seems to still be in 'focus on self-esteem' mode.
