My daughter is a first grader and it is our first year at Barker. I am blown away by the school's staff and their commitment to student achievement. My daughter loves her school and when we walk on campus most of the kids know each others names and the teachers on duty greet her by name making the school feel so secure and close knit. I can't say enough positive things about the first grade teacher she has or the reading teacher she has... both have been amazing, supportive, and communicative. As a a teacher myself I know the demands on educators and the pressure that is ever growing, but my daughter doesn't feel that from the teacher, She feels only supported and cared about. I look forward to more years and my other daughter starting kinder next year!

I love this school. It feels more like a parochial school than a public one. The parental involvement is high and the kids seem very polite and respectable. I would recommend it to anyone.

I truly believe that this is the best Elementry School in Garden Grove. First off I went to this School and my 10 yr old son has been going here since Kindergarten and now my 5 yr old will be starting Barker in Sept. 2005. The Teachers are very involved with the childs academic progress as well as their emotional well being. They want my children to suceed and do well and I know that they are truly preparing them for what lies ahead in their academic career. I also know of at least 5 people I grew up with who purposly moved back to this neighborhood in order for their kids to attend the same schools. If that is not a testament to how great our schools are over here in West GG then I don't know what is!

This school is a great school on the west side of Garden Grove. The teachers are very children oriented and the cirriculum is very positive. The children all seem happy and the extracurricular activities are nice, including the Holloween Carnival, Friday Ice Cream Treats and their Open House programs. I would recommend this school to any parent looking for a good school that isn't too large where their child would feel comfortable and the teaching environment is very positive.
