The leadership at this school is terrible. Rather than building a strong foundation for a learning experience that will last a lifetime, this school singles out kids and labels them no matter what. The bullies are not disciplined and are left free to terrorize other kids. Besides being below state standards, the teachers are entrenched in their make it or break it teaching style. If the child doesn't adapt, then they are singled out or left behind. One teacher even had the entire class decide whether or not a kid was telling the truth vs. calling the office. I've moved my kids to Garden Valley Charter, EXCELLENT MOVE!

We completed 2 years at GS. We encountered multiple, serious problems including child health & safety issues that due to no satisfactory resolution led us to find schooling elsewhere- which isn't difficult to do since there is American River school in Garden Valley. The good points? There are some very caring and lovely people working there as staff & teachers. They have a beautiful greenhouse & garden on site. It's a gorgeous location next to a unique nature preserve that sad enough isn't utilized by the school. Neither year we were there did we have any event in the nature center except graduation for Kindergarten in the outdoor amphitheater. A real oversight and loss. In the year since changing to our new school, we've had 3 events in the nature center including a camp out, tree and plant identification walks, docents on insect life in the waterways & picnics. We are sorry Georgetown school was unable to be responsive to our educational needs. We gave it a go. But it became a no-go. The bottom line? My child wasn't happy there so was unable to benefit from the few good things the place does have going for it. It was a real loss to part our friends and families we love there.

I have seen 3rd grade students that could barely read first grade books so how can they be in the third grade? Also, there are many violent children there for some reason. They will not honor my rights as the custodial parent to keep the abusing parent out of my son's class therefore she gets to do more of her bad doings...upsetting to say the least.

I've seen my daughter absolutely shine through the schools Leadership Program. I am looking forward to her continued growth through Ready By 18 Program.

Georgetown School has a new principal now, and while she is very involved, I haven't seen her in ripped jeans. Very professional image, while truly caring about the children in her care.

This school is a great place for kkids that could use the extra guidance. The rules are enforced strongly, but its a lot of fun to be involved with. You often see the principal in ripped jeans and a t-shirt working outside weeding and conversing with students.
