My child has attended St. Dorothy for 5 years. I'm very pleased with his academic, social and spiritual progress. The teachers, parents and all staff members truly care for our children. I would strongly suggest this school to anyone with pre-kinder through 8th grade children!

I recently graduated from this great school and am now doing very well at Damien High School. I truly believe that I could not have done so without the fantastic education I got from St. Dorothys. The teachers are great and interactive with the children and kids which is just one of the many things I love about the school. You would be a fool to take your kids out and believe all things falsely uttered. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. -Ryan Gilman

St. Dorothy school is one of God's blessings in my daughter's life. I feel so fortunate that my husband and I decided to enroll our only child in this great Catholic school, after touring and investigating several schools in the area. My daughter will soon graduate from this school, and I am confident that she received the solid education to continue to excel in high school and beyond. I believe that she will eventually be a successful individual, because she was given the opportunity to be her best self during such critical period in her life. The last 9 years has been nothing but positive in so many levels. She is a diverse individual (enjoying reading, writing, music, speech, art, sports, etc) because St. Dorothy school lays a strong foundation not only academically, but also socially. I believe that if you are a parent who is looking into the best investment in your child's life, you need to look for a nurturing environment that can sustain a child's thirst for educational challenge but also provide a support system that will make him or her happy and look forward to every single day. That has been the case with my daughter. I love St. Dorothy school, it's charismatic leader/principal Mrs. Burke, and the loving and supportive teachers and staff. If anybody is unhappy with the school, I believe it has nothing to do with the way the school is run or the principal/teachers/staff. The school is very informative, and works well with parents in continuing to facilitate the learning and progress of each child, or if there is a problem with the child (the teacher establish great rapports with the parents). If you are looking for an individualized attention and caring atmosphere with a strong faith formation - in addition to academic excellence, St. Dorothy is the school for your child.

We got involved with St. Dorothy School long before we had children because we knew how much of great school it is. Both of our boys attended St. Dorothy from kindergarten through 8th grade. They received an excellent education which prepared them for high school and beyond. All the faculty and staff truly care about the students and are fantastic teachers. Rest assured that by sending your children to St. Dorothy School you are make a conscious decision that a Catholic education is an advantage for life.

Some night are heavier than others but it seems like the children understand what is going on. I credit the small class sizes for this. It allows teachers to have an opportunity to get through their lessons, answer question etc. There is a lot of one on one time so children are not overlooked.

The negative reviews expressed on this site about St. Dorothy's School, it's Principal Mrs. Burke, and it's teachers are so far from the truth as to be beyond absurd. Mrs. Burke, her teachers, and her staff's # 1 priority is the care, nurturing, and future success (academically, socially, and as responsible productive members of society) of the students. My oldest daughter graduated from St. Dorothy's and is now excelling at an academically demanding Catholic High School due to the education she received, and the morals and work habits she was taught, at St. Dorothy's. My youngest daughter is currently enrolled at St. Dorothy's and she loves it. Her mother and I couldn't be happier with the learning environment, principal, teachers, staff, and fellow students at St. Dorothy's. If you are a parent who loves your child/children, and cares about their future success, Run, Don't Walk, "TO" enroll your child/children at St. Dorothy's School! Doug Jewett (parent)

The best thing about St. Dorothy School are the children. I enjoy watching them so lovingly take care of their prayer partners. They are so reverent when helping the little ones receive their blessings. They are true example of Christ like behavior. The love and concern they have toward the rabbits is refreshing. You often see them sifting through their lunches to see if they have a treat for the rabbits or trying to sneak a quick pet before they go to class. These little things about the school are charming and irreplaceable.

We have a team of ANGELS teaching our children at St. Dorothy School! I have been a parent here for almost twenty years, with my last of four children remaining. I have been completely satisfied with the level of academic challenge and faith walk. My children have been exceptionally well prepared for their high school entrance exams and did very well. The teachers are not just doing their jobs, but truly love and inspire our children. Our principal, Mrs. Carol Burke, is one of the most selfless, kind and compassionate women I've ever known. I thank God for her guidance, not just for my children, but for me as a mother. When you enroll your children at our school, you are not just welcomed as parents and students, but as new family members. We truly are a family -- and like every family, nothing is perfect -- we sometimes have qualms to work through, but we do just that. Someone asked me to describe St. Dorothy School in one word, and what immediately came to mind was, my 'heart.' I tell my children that they get to go to heaven everyday. They laugh, but know it's true...

I agree with others what a shame it is that a few sour grapes are spreading incorrect information without conscience or christian behavior. Teacher credentials are easily verifiable, as well as standardized scores. People who do not know the facts are listening to and spreading negative misinformation from the disgruntled soon-to-be former teacher --who is working really hard to gather supporters. Interestingly enough, several families left the school in the past few years because of her. Any low morale among staff is directly related to the negative climate created by this teacher. I urge you to judge clearly by the experience you and your child have received from this fine school with dedicated teachers and parents. I'm looking forward to a fresh new year after we clean house and shake off this negative energy!

St. Dorothy school is a terrific value for everything it offers. My kids have been very happy at this school. The teachers are dedicated professionals and will do what it takes to teach the children. We have been quite satisfied with our children's progress. The added bonus is that there are a lot of wonderful families that help to foster a friendly atmosphere!

When reading these reviews, I ask you to take a look at the dates of the entries. It is clear that there is a recent issue with a disgruntled teacher, and the 1 star reviews are from parents who support her. As school parents, we never like to see a teacher leave whether it is voluntary or involuntary. However, we really do not know the complete circumstances and any information shared, not directly from the administration is simply hearsay. As a parent, I am thrilled with the education, discipline, faith and the wonderful community of parents, teachers and children that we have as a part of St. Dorothy's. My child is doing well, has great friends, and we have made forever friends in the journey of my child's education. The teachers and staff are great. They go the extra mile to assist you when you have questions or concerns. I have never been disappointed when I felt I had an issue that needed to be discussed. The Principal is fair, open, and truthful. I know I can walk into her office at any time and she will sit with me and chat. She genuinely cares for each and every student and parent. St. Dorothy's is a great school. See for yourself!

I am an alumni of St. Dorothy School. I believe the education I received here created the foundation for my continued educational success. After St. Dorothy I went on to graduate from St. Lucy's Priory High School and am a recent graduate from LMU. This year I am applying to medical school and can say without a doubt that I gained my love of learning and commitment to serving others from St. Dorothy School. The teachers and administration truly care about their students.

I am an alumni of this school. As an alumnus of the school I feel that these negative reviews of the school are ridiculous. I graduated from the school went to an amazing high school and felt more prepared then half of the people I went to high school with. I then went on to graduate from Azusa Pacific University and am now Working on attaining my credential and masters in special education. I thank the staff at St.Dorothys for my amazing educational foundation and continual support in pursuing my dreams. Without them and this foundation I would not be where I am and pursing the career that I am. Thank you St.Dorothys for everything you do!

I am a proud grandparent of 6 children who all attended and graduated from St. Dorothy School. All I can say is that I am so happy that my grandchildren went to such a fine school. They received a first rate education while they were learning about their faith. The proof is that they went on to distinguish themselves in high school and college. St. Dorothy School provides all around excellence.

I found it to be very sad that this website was used as a means to avenge issues and bash, rather than as a tool for use by perspective parents in assessing the various school's curriculum/academics of the school they are interested in. As a parent of St. Dorothy School, I can personally share that they have been accredited by W.A.S.C. several times, with a six year extension being granted each time following their review of the findings. This review process is completed by various teachers and administrators employed by the Diocese. The IOWA test scores for our school are also high points of our school, and indicate wonderful progress and academic growth annually. All of this information was shared with us following the W.A.S.C. review, and as well, at the annual Parent Night, by Mrs. Burke, our principal. People will always say things, good or bad, but the facts about a school, such as the ones above, are what I would hope that you would focus on in considering our fine school for your family.

If there is any hope of saving this school there needs to be someone from outside brought in to overhaul the entire program. This school is the victim of total mismanagement for over a decade now. At this point they are pretty much just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic... We all know how that story ended! Let's all say a prayer that things will change for the better! SOON!

I am writing this review because of my concerns about the education and the lack of teachers that are ACTUALLY credentialed in education at St. Dorothy's School in Glendora, CA . Employing teachers with inadequate credentials seems to be a typical factor of the teachers at St. Dorothy's School due to the fact that in private schools, credentialed teachers are not mandatory. There are a couple of teachers who actually are credentialed in education at St. Dorothy's school. One of those teachers, the Kindergarten teacher, who has a Master's Degree in education and has been at St. Dorothy's School for six years, has been told by the principal, Mrs. Burke that she will not be renewing the Kindergarten teacher's contract. Mind you now that the Kindergarten teacher is one of two teachers at St. Dorothy's with a Master's Degree in Education. Mrs. Burke, this is a crime. What a shame. You should be the one to leave.

My opinion...this is a sinking ship. I was brought up in the Catholic education system and I thought all Catholic schools would be solid. I learned the hard way this is not the case. This very well may be the school for your family, but I ENCOURAGE you to meet as much of the staff as possible. Sit in all classrooms and spend time with the principal. And of course, tour other schools. I just heard that Kindergarten teacher Ms. Kent isn't coming back!! Say whaaat? Even Catholics are amazed at this one and we believe in a man that turned water into wine. I gave one star because their on campus rabbits are freakin' awesome.

My children have attended St. Dorothy's for 6 years. I absolutely LOVE this school. The teachers are wonderful and very qualified. The classrooms are not over crowded and the school provides more than enough aides and special subject teachers for the students. The curriculum is challenging and surpasses the local school districts. The families that attend are dedicated to the school, offering volunteer hours, services and help whenever possible. It honestly feels like a family environment-everyone know everyone. Because the classrooms are smaller, the children get all the attention they need. Their music program is wonderful, as is the art program. It is located in the City of Glendora, near the foothills. The location is beautiful.

My 2nd gradder will be pulled from his class right now. I am not finishing the school year with a teacher like he has.....The teacher does not work well with the children and does not check home work like she is paid to. She Does not go off the class books and when she makes up the home work it is spelled wrong and marked wrong when the chilrder turn it back in. What kind of learning does this set for small children??? This is my review of the 2nd grade. My child did fine before the 2nd grade so I can't say anything about past this grade, but 2nd grade teacher has big issues that should be dealt with by the school....The Aid in 2nd grade does fine, but it is the job of the teacher to run the class and have the Aid as extra help. I see other reviews and agree with them on here about sme big issues with this school

The principle is very set in her way. Blames the parents for most issues and nothiong about the teachers. Some of the teachers have poor teaching skills and leave the class to the Aids. It seems the principle does not even know what some of the teachers are or I should say not doing for the children. Just wants more $ and more $ from the parents. My one child will beleaving this school after this year for a better education

In the past couple of years this school has dropped several points. I know a few that have left for other schools due to the way the teachers are and the lack of knowing the children and helping. My 2 children will be pulled out this year and moved to a better Catholic school. The 2nd grade is very bad and the teacher is always late and on her cell phone in the hall at sevral times. The Aid has to do the class and others have to open the class due to the teacher. Several have left due to issues not being cared for in the school. Principal leadership is lacking when it has issues with teachers and how the children are not learning the right way. This review may or may not make it on here...My family with several others are not very happy with this school. Leaving this year both my children.. Teachers look for the parents to do all the work

St. Dorothy is a great school because of their rich academic and non academic curriculum. It includes religion; the students actively participate in the liturgy once a week. Now my daughter has an appreciation and understanding of the importance of attending mass. Principal Carol Burke is very welcoming and approachable. School secretary Mrs. Kathy Jasso is always patient and very informative to all my inquiries. It is a great school because of the 1st grade teacher and aide, Mrs. Fulham and Mrs. Lagace. They are smart and amazing, and also kind, warm hearted, and make learning very fun. My daughter looks forward to going to school each day. She enjoys all the time she spends in the classroom and in the play area with her new found friends. She would often say I can t wait to go to school. They also have many community service projects. We like the idea that it brings awareness to the students to reach out to the less fortunate in our community. We are very grateful and blessed to have found this great school. I know they are playing a vital role in helping parents raise bright, God-fearing, conscientious, and responsible individuals.

Posted today Report it We love it here! Mrs. Burke is an awesome principal, you need strong leadership to run a school, and she has it. She is tough when she needs to be but she also has a great interaction with the student body, she is well respected by all. You can tell that she really loves what she does it is not only a job to her. My daughter has been here for 6 years now. The academics are great, she is always being challenged. For the most part the student body is well behaved, in the time we have been here I have not experienced or seen any kind of altercations between kids. As I mentioned before it has to do with the leadership, Mrs. Burke does not tolerate that kind of behavior. The school stresses respect for yourself and others. I am so happy to have found this school, it is everything I expect in a Catholic School, Saint Dorothy's is an amazing school.

I love the "family" environment of the St. Dorothy. Since it is K-8th, my children really get to grow up in this school surrounded by great teachers and a nurturing environment. Parents are always helping out. It's a true community. I also love the Prayer Partners program St. Dorothy has. Every grade is paired up (except 4th). It encourages the family environment. There is someone to look up to and someone to be responsible for.

St. Dorothy School has it all: fine academics, great sports, and fun extracurricular things! The curriculum is broad and the teachers are engaging. We have a teacher, an aide, and smart boards in every grade. We also have satellite classes like Music, Spanish, and Computer Learning Center. St. Dorothy School competes against other Catholic schools in sports like flag football, softball, soccer, basketball, track, and volleyball. In extracurricular things, there is Student Council, Safety Committee, choir, art classes, and more. We are always doing things through the year, like Red Ribbon Week, Catholic Schools Week, Earth Day, the Halloween Carnival, recycling, and more. We also have Flag Salute and attend Mass, where upper grades pair with lower grades, helping younger kids learn to behave at Mass and older kids learn to be good examples. We also urge involvement in fundraising and volunteering, teaching us to be caring people who help the needy. We help with Holy Childhood, Mary s Mercy Center, Adopt-a-Family, and lots more. There is never a time when your child won t feel included and busy, and they will be armed with knowledge, faith, responsibility, and respect. Go Bruins!

This is one of the best schools in the SGV. I attended several private schools as a kid but none comes close to St. D. The teachers are among the best in the SGV so academics are superb here. There is even a full-time computer teacher. God comes first at St. D. The whole school prays together every morning and has mass, all together, once a week. Although this is in a wealthy community, the tuition remains quite reasonable.
