We have had a wonderful experience so far at St. Dorothy's. Mrs. Kent, the Kindergarten teacher, went over and beyond what was necessary to ensure that my daughter was challenged the entire year. My daughter was able to read very well upon entering Kindergarten. Ms. Kent spent her summer break recreating her curriculum so that it fit every child in the class. She has done a remarkable job with all her students knowing that they are all at different levels. I feel so comfortable knowing that my daughter is cared for so well by not only her teacher but all the staff. I would highly recommend St. Dorothy's for their child's education.
As a parent determining the best course of education for my children was a no brainer. St. Dorothy School was and is the best educatinal choice for my family. I only wish the Transitional Kindergarten was available when my children were 4 and 5 years old. The principal and educators are top notch holding the students best interest foremost in their minds. Nothing beats the Christian environment - and the service projects that the students provide to the less fortunate. St. Dorothy's provides a well rounded education beginning in the TK through 8th grade, preparing all students for higher education - no surprises. Isn't that what all parents want for their children? All this and more is found at St. Dorothy School. Thank you St. Dorothy principal, teachers, and support staff!
St. Dorothy school provides a solid foundation for the total development of the student. It is a diverse faith filled environment with a first rate academic program. Caring teachers and staff are the icing on the cake!
The 2nd grade teacher cares a great deal for her students academically and personally. She is very conscientious and responsible in preparing the children well in their school work and in the sacraments they receive in the same year. My son is doing very well at St. Dorothy School.
St. Dorothy School has not only provided my son with a great education, but has also given him a safe and nurturing environment to grow and flourish.
My 2nd gradder will be pulled from his class right now. I am not finishing the school year with a teacher like he has.....The teacher does not work well with the children and does not check home work like she is paid to. She Does not go off the class books and when she makes up the home work it is spelled wrong and marked wrong when the chilrder turn it back in. What kind of learning does this set for small children??? This is my review of the 2nd grade. My child did fine before the 2nd grade so I can't say anything about past this grade, but 2nd grade teacher has big issues that should be dealt with by the school....The Aid in 2nd grade does fine, but it is the job of the teacher to run the class and have the Aid as extra help. I see other reviews and agree with them on here about sme big issues with this school
The principle is very set in her way. Blames the parents for most issues and nothiong about the teachers. Some of the teachers have poor teaching skills and leave the class to the Aids. It seems the principle does not even know what some of the teachers are or I should say not doing for the children. Just wants more $ and more $ from the parents. My one child will beleaving this school after this year for a better education
In the past couple of years this school has dropped several points. I know a few that have left for other schools due to the way the teachers are and the lack of knowing the children and helping. My 2 children will be pulled out this year and moved to a better Catholic school. The 2nd grade is very bad and the teacher is always late and on her cell phone in the hall at sevral times. The Aid has to do the class and others have to open the class due to the teacher. Several have left due to issues not being cared for in the school. Principal leadership is lacking when it has issues with teachers and how the children are not learning the right way. This review may or may not make it on here...My family with several others are not very happy with this school. Leaving this year both my children.. Teachers look for the parents to do all the work
St. Dorothy is a great school because of their rich academic and non academic curriculum. It includes religion; the students actively participate in the liturgy once a week. Now my daughter has an appreciation and understanding of the importance of attending mass. Principal Carol Burke is very welcoming and approachable. School secretary Mrs. Kathy Jasso is always patient and very informative to all my inquiries. It is a great school because of the 1st grade teacher and aide, Mrs. Fulham and Mrs. Lagace. They are smart and amazing, and also kind, warm hearted, and make learning very fun. My daughter looks forward to going to school each day. She enjoys all the time she spends in the classroom and in the play area with her new found friends. She would often say I can t wait to go to school. They also have many community service projects. We like the idea that it brings awareness to the students to reach out to the less fortunate in our community. We are very grateful and blessed to have found this great school. I know they are playing a vital role in helping parents raise bright, God-fearing, conscientious, and responsible individuals.
I am a graduate of St. Dorothy School and am currently in my last year at St. Lucy's High School. St. Dorothy School is a great place where you can learn and grow while keeping your priorities straight. I am doing very well in high school and I have to say THANKS ST. DOROTHY SCHOOL!
This is a wonderful school. Our daughter is very happy and will be joined next year by her little sister. A warm community, supportive, nurturing teachers and staff coupled with challenging academics makes this school a gem! Also the principal is amazing.
St. Dorothy School is top notch . The proof is when their graduates go on to high school and excel. The school has caring staff that will challenge and motivate the student. It's not easy to get an A at St. Dorothy School but when you do it means something. It is a bargain for the education the school offers.
I would say this was the worst school my kids had ever been too. The principle is very set in her way. Blames everything on the parents. Half of the teachers have poor teaching skills!
Posted today Report it We love it here! Mrs. Burke is an awesome principal, you need strong leadership to run a school, and she has it. She is tough when she needs to be but she also has a great interaction with the student body, she is well respected by all. You can tell that she really loves what she does it is not only a job to her. My daughter has been here for 6 years now. The academics are great, she is always being challenged. For the most part the student body is well behaved, in the time we have been here I have not experienced or seen any kind of altercations between kids. As I mentioned before it has to do with the leadership, Mrs. Burke does not tolerate that kind of behavior. The school stresses respect for yourself and others. I am so happy to have found this school, it is everything I expect in a Catholic School, Saint Dorothy's is an amazing school.
I love the "family" environment of the St. Dorothy. Since it is K-8th, my children really get to grow up in this school surrounded by great teachers and a nurturing environment. Parents are always helping out. It's a true community. I also love the Prayer Partners program St. Dorothy has. Every grade is paired up (except 4th). It encourages the family environment. There is someone to look up to and someone to be responsible for.
My son is a kindergarten student at St. Dorothy. He is thriving and learning so much. He is extremely happy and loves school and his teachers. My husband and I like their structure and curriculum and we are amazed at how much our son has learned two-thirds of the way through the school year. Academically, the school is very solid. The teachers make sure that the children succeed and always keep the parents informed on the academic and personal growth of the children. St. Dorothy is a great school!
I have two children at this school and I can't say enough good things about St. Dorothy. Mrs. Burke is amazing I'm so thankful to have her as a pricipal.
St. Dorothy School has it all: fine academics, great sports, and fun extracurricular things! The curriculum is broad and the teachers are engaging. We have a teacher, an aide, and smart boards in every grade. We also have satellite classes like Music, Spanish, and Computer Learning Center. St. Dorothy School competes against other Catholic schools in sports like flag football, softball, soccer, basketball, track, and volleyball. In extracurricular things, there is Student Council, Safety Committee, choir, art classes, and more. We are always doing things through the year, like Red Ribbon Week, Catholic Schools Week, Earth Day, the Halloween Carnival, recycling, and more. We also have Flag Salute and attend Mass, where upper grades pair with lower grades, helping younger kids learn to behave at Mass and older kids learn to be good examples. We also urge involvement in fundraising and volunteering, teaching us to be caring people who help the needy. We help with Holy Childhood, Mary s Mercy Center, Adopt-a-Family, and lots more. There is never a time when your child won t feel included and busy, and they will be armed with knowledge, faith, responsibility, and respect. Go Bruins!
