I love Sierra Montessori Academy because the whole school is like a close-knit family. The teachers all care very much for all of the students and because of the small class sizes the students get a lot of individualized attention. The parent volunteers are wonderful and hard working. I believe that my son is getting the best education possible and all at a beautiful country campus.
The small school feels like a large family. My child interacts with all the children from different grade levels and has been creating positive relationships. I love this school for the family-like atmosphere, spontaneous and traditional learning, and the commited teachers!
My daughter is in her 4th year at SMA and we couldn't be happier with the personalized quality education she has received. It is hands down the wackyest parent community I have ever seen grouped in one place... I am aghast at the pettyness and abrupt pull-outs, not even allowing the teacher to have a good-bye day for their child (and friends)! My daughter is above grade-level and her teachers have all been phenomenal at creating an academic plan that is specific to her strengths and challenges. She loves the small class sizes and Montessori math and language approach. All the kids in her class have a more complex understanding of the fundamental units of math and language. This process is a bit slower to build, but by HS, these kids will be way beyond.
A quality school in a beautiful location! We love it! Montessori methods are the best and our kid is thriving.
Individualized attention, creative instruction, excellent outcomes.
My children ae doing very well here at SMA, they are no longer in danger of slipping through the cracks. I am active in the school community and love being able to be a part of my children's learning. I was actually told by a local middle school that I was not welcome in the classroom. That is when we came to SMA. The teacher's here ask you to come in and help out. What a relief it has been to see how excited my kids are to come to school every day. Their grades have come up and they are excited about what they are learning. I will never go back to public school.
My child fell even further behind last year in math. We can no longer risk his education here. We are sad to go but I feel it's for the best. Hopefully in the future this school and students will flourish under the new leadership
Oh geez we had such high hopes. My son was enrolled here at SMA again this year and seemed to be doing fine. The teacher student ratio was great as long as they had aids. Well because the enrollment keeps dropping they let all the aids go. For my sons sake we had to pull him from this school. I wish the school luck but I cannot use my child as a test subject for a newer school any longer.
SMA is like having my son enrolled in a private Montessori school, but without any tuition. My son loves his teacher, has made great friends, and my wife and I feel like a real part of the school's community.
This will be our third year at the school (2008/09). I'm very pleased with the teachers my child has had and with the education received. As a parent, I can't say that any school is perfect, but I think SMA offers a great choice in schools over your traditional public, sit-in-your-chair-and-work-on-the-same-as-everyone-else-school. Part of starting a charter school, like a business, will result in a bumpy road at times. I will miss the two teachers that left, but I understand that the new 6/7/8 teacher is very experienced in teaching mulitple age classrooms. This will allow the upper grades to stabilize and flourish like the lower grades have done these past two years.
