I am shocked to see such great reviews for this school. These parents will have a horrible wake-up call when their kids is unable to keep pace with other students in high school and junior high. The kindergarten classes are well behind other schools in reading and math skills. The schools safety is a huge issue as well. The teachers allow volunteers from the community to just check in at the office and come straight in. They do not follow their own safety protocal for parent/visitor helpers at all. No TB tests or background checks required. There is a reason why this school has such a low grading from the state. Why can they not keep up with other local area schools?
My daughter is in 3rd grade at Hennessy. She has received care and attention far above other schools we attended in the past. The school is also the most diverse in the area. The school garden, awesome principle and dedicated, capable teachers are some of the reasons we love Hennessy.
I am beyond impressed with the patience and understanding that the kindergarten staff maintain happily on a daily basis. It is so nice to see, as an over-protective mother myself, people that so are genuinely caring and nurturing for their students. Thank you hennessy staff!
I love that they are integrating natural science with real life via vegetable gardens.
Teachers and staff are always working to ensure that the kids receive a fun and diverse education. Despite the budget cuts the state has passsed down to the schools, everyone remains committed to giving these kids a good education that is also fun and engaging.
Hennessy is a great place for children to grow. The teachers are warm and caring, and the principal is very 'reachable', and supportive.
Hennessy is now a K-5, with some of the most committed teachers I have met. I have substitute taught here for the past three years and have been impressed with the way the staff genuinely care about students here (more than many other schools in my experience). The wonderfully innovative playground is available to the whole community after school hours and on weekends, attracting families from all over the county. The beautiful brick building provides a safe, nurturing, place for students to take advantage of challenging academics, a wonderful band program, art and computer classes. They are committed to meeting the needs of their Spanish speaking students and families, providing a rich culturally diverse classroom experience for all students.
