Great teachers and a sweet feel on campus. We love this place. Teacher collaboration makes the staff exceptional and the administrators are intent on making this school great. The monthly "All-school Sings" are wonderful and help make for a good sense of community among the students. Scotten School is a good place!

I was a homeschooling mom, who decided to have my son start 2nd grade at Scotten. I have had nothing but good experiences. My son has a wonderful teacher, and they have worked with him with sensitivity, and positivity. I am very involved working in the class, once a week. Its going great!!

There are some amazing teachers at Scotten, but I have taken me child out after 2nd grade. The administration has left a lot to be desired. I never felt as though the special needs of my child we being meant and the admin. was making it it more difficult for the excellent teachers to do their jobs. They seems more concerned with test scores and API rating than meeting the needs of the each child. I am glad I had the option of a private school.

Scotten is an awesome school, they have the most compassionate and caring teachers. They're a great art classes and Music. Children can start in band and move on with the to middle school it's an incredible program. Wonderful diversity! The children really have a lot of respect for each other; this is district wide I have never seen such caring children. I wouldn't have my children anywhere else. I feel my kids are getting a great education in every aspect.

We have found Scotten to be an awesome school. It has wondeful, caring teachers and a diverse community of students. Students are not only taught academically but they also are taught to care for others in their community. The only thing I'd like to see different is less 'farm' influence. Could be more Vegan friendly....

We love the caring, creative teachers at all the Grass Valley schools, since starting kindergarten at Bell Hill School six years ago. Both our girls have moved on to Scotten, and are enjoying the art classes, award winning band program, Odyssey of the Mind team, and the wonderful student diversity only found in the Grass Valley public schools. We live just a few blocks from downtown G.V. and my girls frequently walk to/from school with a group of neighborhood boys and girls . My girls and their friends also walk from Scotten to the Center for the Arts for dance classes after school . I am one of many parent volunteers at Scotten, including the active art docent program, PTC, and the district's newly formed Grass Valley Schools Foundation for Arts and Science (gvsdfoundation.org), fundraising to offer even more enriching programs for the students. We are looking forward to Gilmore!

I think this school has some excellent teachers. I really like the fact that some teachers loop with their students. This means that certain teachers go with their students from 3rd grade to 4th grade or from 4th grade to 5th grade. I think this gives the students more consistancy.

Consider options before sending your child to Scotten, especially if moving to Grass Valley. Try a school where teachers & parents open up a bigger world to the children, where kids grow up thinking there's more to life than just getting through school, marrying and having babies. There are great private and charter schools in the area. Investigate!
