Love this school! My son was struggling in Kindergarten at another school and was pretty much ignored to the point I took him out and tried home schooling. When our family moved to Grass Valley and he was enrolled in Pleasant Ridge it was a huge relief! The Principal, Mr. Cooper took time to tour the school with my son and made him feel welcome. His teacher for first grade, Mrs. Fleenor, is too wonderful for words. My son went from dreading school to loving it! He has made a 180 degree turnaround and I am so grateful that this school was there and truly believe that the staff there made all the difference for my son.
My child attended K-5. She was sad to leave for middle school. The teachers, Principal and parents club are awesome. They know the importance of music and the parents club raises money to fund programs such as band and choir. They are all very involved and there is a real sense of community. We all look out for each other. The librarian gives special attention to each grade level and reads appropriate fun books which they love.
Pleasant Ridge is truly a hidden treasure~Tucked away in a serene, safe, country setting, this school is filled with caring, supportive, friendly people. The staff, Mr. Cooper, the children, the parents...We're all there because we can't imagine being anywhere else! How many public schools feel more like an extended family than an institution? Only one, that I know of, and we're blessed to be a part of it.
I am a staff member at Pleasant Ridge and I love my job! The staff, parents & students at Pleasant Ridge are outstanding! When tragedy or illness strike one of our families, the entire school community bands together. What a wonderful thing in this day and age!
It's a great enviroment for my kids to learn and grow in. The teacher's really care about each and every student there, and strive to make sure they get the individualized help they need.
Pleasant Ridge is fantastic - I can't say enough good things about it. Small, country setting, everybody knows everybody else, caring teachers, great principal, fun events, after-school recreation program and enrichment classes, school garden, big playground area, good choir, etc. Disabilities and differences are embraced here - I have never witnessed bullying or teasing at this school. My son is in Kindergarten now, and my daughter will be starting in 2 years.
As a parent to 3 children whom have attended pleasant ridge over the last 2 decades I am proud. Proud to have my children attend such a wonderful, eductaional, supportive school. Being a parent of a child with learning dissabilites I have seen first hand the caring and determination the staff has put into the education of our kids. I have seen the huge improvements in my children and their education. My children are excited to learn and be with their peers and mentors. I can not say enough about Pleasant Ridge as a whole, it's is impossible other than to maybe say perfect.
Public school doesn't get any better than this. Country living doesn' get any better than this. Personable, Huge parent volunteer groups, High academic and disipline standards, fiscally responsible, Technology, Music, Instruments,The Arts, Sports, Enrichment extras, after school care. Pinch me ! Honest ! Check it out !
This is a superb school with involved and caring teachers. I have been impressed with how the staff always makes decisions based on the student's best interest. This school is a tremendous asset to the community. Everything should be done to keep it open and to maintain it long tradition of excellence. Bernie S. (father of 3rd grader)
I am afraid words cannot convey how special this school is. Our son, now a 3rd grader, has been at Pleasant Ridge Elementary since kindergarten and we could not have hoped for a better school, teachers and principal. The teachers are experienced, knowledgable and it's so obvious that they care about each child. Problem (e.g. a child gets into trouble) are resolved in a constructive manner and without being judgmental. I would recommend Pleasant Ridge Elementary school to anyone. If you are looking for a highly rated school with a heart, you owe it to yourself and your children to seriously consider Pleasant Ridge Elementary school
