The school provides a great intimate invironment where students can know their teachers and the teachers know them. I concur with the post of 10-29-12 the 11th grade Language Arts teacher is lacking (doesn't post grades but once a month and then it's too late to fix bad grade problems, failed to assist a student even after parent involvement) and has failed to help two students that I personally know. Every other teacher has been great, interested in students doing well and helping to resolve what ever is stopping the student from doing their best. Motivated! As a freshman my son was afraid to attempt his physics class, then he came home and proudly said, "I love physics!!" My son was a D and F student prior to Impact. He now has a 2.5 GPA. It's a hands on school so it's fun and things just "click" for the students. Safe invironment and they take the rules seriously. MUCH BETTER than Hayward High.

Great school, small, great teachers with the exception of 2 of 11th grade teachers, Algebra 2 & LA. Other than that all of the staff is great. My child has been here 9th thru currently 12th and there has never been one fight in this school so its very safe. They run a tight ship but make it fun and interesting. My son would have never gotten this kind of "college prep" education in any public school in Hayward or otherwise. Very supportive and they care about our kids. I have been very please with Impact Academy and so has my child. P.S. I gave 4 stars for teacher quality due to the two teachers in 11th grade that should really be evaluated. We felt that of all the teachers we have had here these were the only two that did not seem like Impact Academy caliber. Otherwise, I would have given them 5 stars. And frankly, some at Impact deserve 10 stars! There are really amazing teachers at Impact and I highly recommend this school!!!

I am happy student in Impact all of the teachers are great and they all support me when i need help. They never let me fall behind and thanks to that my grades are good. Im glad i have the opportunity to attend this great school!

I am a proud parent of a founding student at Impact Academy. The entire staff are so dedicated to helping your child achieve their dreams! Every event that goes on at the school is just amazing! The way I have watched my daughter blossom still amazes me! I look forward to my son joining her!

We were lucky enough to be part of the founding families of impact and are very proud to say my son attends this school. He wasn't the best of students but tried, he went from getting c & d's to a's & b's and the confidence that he didn't have before. This school is the best thing that has happened to the hayward school district! our children deserve to have all schools structured as this school so they have a fighting chance of a future. The way they teach is leaps and bounds ahead of the old traditional ways and much more effective. We can't say enough about how great this school and it's staff is,they are a wonderful group of people who want to change our future with giving our children knowledge and power. Thank you impact!

The best thing that could have ever happened to my son. The staff ais amazing, my child is more than just a number, he is an individual,the faculty and staff care about his progress, they care about all of the students and the students actually learn. The stuedents are proud of themselves and all of their accomplishments. As a parent I really appreciate the support that I recieve from the faculty and staff, parents and students have a voice at Impact, it's like having a private school education without the over priced tuition.

WOW! what a awesome school! Teacher are there to teach hunger student minds that are eagar to learn and want knowledge. Impact students will be student that are college bound and Impact school is the first step to a great education that is at these student finger tips. GOOD LUCK !

Impact Academy is a great High School. This is my daughter's second year. I'm so proud of how she is thoroughly motivated to go to a major university. I like how it is instilled in the kids that they can reach for the moon an the stars. They are learning that they have more choices than attending the local J.C. My daughters believes she can go to an Ivy League school like Darthmouth. I truly have Impact Academy to thank for this.

My son is a Freshman at Impact this year and while he has always been an excellent academic student, for the first time he is actually excited about doing it. I am extremely impressed with the innovative approach that EVERY teacher uses in their classroom. Also, Community is an undeniable force at Impact as evidenced by such practices as regular 'check-in' communications about yourstudent beyond standard Progress Reports and/or 'issues'. The class sizes are perfect and the curriculum and support base is definitely set up so that NO STUDENT WILL FAIL!

This is an excellent school. At first my child was very dissatisfied about going here. He has learn to love it. This school has just the right amout of structure, as well as dedication from the teachers and staff. This is no ordinary highschool, and he definitely does not get into the trouble he used to get into before coming here. Impact has expanded his mind, and stretched his learning ability. It offers all the tools needed for every child to succeed. I believe this school is a perfect example of no child left behind.

My son started at Impact this year - his freshman year. My kid typically complains about everything. To our surprise he has nothing but positive comments about the school. His friends love the school too. I have never seen a group of kids so excited about their school. I know this is a result of the positive energy the teachers and staff display on a daily basis. I am also impressed with their mission and focus on leadership skills. I see my son being inspired about college and taking on challenges to be a leader. A great big Thank you to the Impact academy teachers and staff!

This is my daughters second year at Impact Academy.We love the school,the teachers are great and caring. Also the focus on every child going to college.There are a lot of great things going on here ,the kids don't even want to leave at the end of the day.

This is the second year my daughter has attended Impact. I love the small classes and the focus on relationships and hard work. Last year all the 9th grade went on a trip to Stanford and my daughter came home saying she wants to go to college!

This is a great High School! My daughter attends and we can see a significant difference in her attitude regarding studies and school. I highly recommend this school. The teachers are very caring and although the courses are challenging (rigourous to use the school's term), they go out of their way to be sure every student reaches his/her full potential.

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
