Special ed staff needs more training in my opinion. I am currently not impressed with their special ed staff and looking for another educational alternative for my child. I don't feel good with my daughter at this school so looking for different location.

I am a senior at West Valley, and I have to say, the school is awesome. Many of the teachers are very helpful, there are a few bad eggs though, I will not go into specifics, but one gave me a D-(and an F on a test, which I have never once in my life received) and the other gave me an F, forcing me to re-take English, even though I was the only student in any of her classes to receive an A on all of her tests and get High advanced on the CST. Besides that, most of the counselors are willing to help, especially with a parent involved, the campus is safe and clean. The drama and arts departments are stunning! Mrs. Bailey is a tough person, but an excellent drama teacher/director.

Excellent teachers, as well good school environment.. I attend this school for 3 years and I personally love this school, my counselor took time to help me get the best classes I needed. Most of teachers took extra time to help me when I needed. And they well prepare me for college. I personally thank Mr Urquiza, Mr Downson, Mrs Rodriguez, Mrs Chaves, and Mrs Garcia for all there help and support.

i am a student at west valley high school, and before this i attended a school in compton california.believe it or not the schools in south central had teachers that cared alot more than the teachers at west valley...these teachers dont really like to spend extra time on the students...there are a handful of good teachers at west valley that include ms. wynn, mr. eurquiza, mr. smith, mrs. walker, and mrs. cass which are mostly avid teachers

I was a former student at this school, all the staff people are great! I moved to a school at a diffrent state and they are nothing like West Valley. And to the lady with the teacher comment, that is the truth! Teachers are not paid to dwell over a student or thier grades they are there to teach, it's up to the student to pay attention and actually learn something, and if you say your daughter does as well as you say she does then she should have no problem getting along with the school, or any other.

My daughter attends West Valley High school, she previously attended private school in which she did very well but wanted to try public school. Some teachers are ok but most of the teachers don't care to help the students who need help, one teacher made a comment in her class ' I don't care if you pass this class because I get paid anyways' This is the attitude most teachers have now.

I think that things are too easy to come across at that school. The educators and safety officers do not pay enough attention at all.

I am a former student of West Valley High School and went on to a Tier 2 private university after graduation. I spent most of my time in AP and honors classes. In advanced classes I felt that the teachers were very committed but they could have pushed us harder. In general classes some of the teachers would start lectures reading from the teacher's addition, 'the book says...' I was very involved in extracurricular activities and I found most of my academic support there. The counseling staff was spotty at best, my counselor refused to write me a recommendation to NYU. In college I found myself embarrassed by some of the things I didn't know. I think this speaks to a larger problem with public schools but there is support to be found if the student and parent are committed to education.

I'm not a parent of a West Valley student. I am an Alumni. Graduating in 1998, I then attended the California Maritime Academy. Today, I work as an officer on commercial ships, including oil tankers and research vessels. My little sister, graduated a year after I did, and graduated from UCR in three years. Today, she works for a large insurance firm and has been very successful (pay raises amounting to 20k over the past three years). We came from a broken home, and our mother worked several jobs to support our family. My sister and I worked hard by challenging each other- we excelled. The teachers at West Valley are top flight, willing to help any student that needs assistance. As a parent, you need to be a role model and promote the fruits of education. I'm limited to 150 words, otherwise I would continue. Parents are teachers, too.

West Valley has become an amazing school over the past year with the arrivement of a new principal. The new one has brought it up to outstanding standards. The school is also very safe and well kept. New teachers have brought in a lot of charisma and excitement. I would recommend this school to any parent and I am glad that my children attend West Valley.

I think that West Valley has one of the best fine arts departments in the Hemet area. The SOFT Program (School of Film and Technology) has won numerous industry awards and my son was able to learn a lot from the arts teachers. Their theatre, art, music, and dance departments are also top-notch. The English department is a little weak though... but I think that's from poor leadership. Overall West Valley is an amazing school, I highly recommend it to any parent.

New principal brings excitement and good discipline theories. This school will start rocking and rolling. Great positive feed back from the teachers and parents of the school because of new principal.

Personally, I feel that the most recent principal did an outstanding job. He may not have had too much involvement with students, but that wad due to pushing the school to where it is today. He left in great standing. I only hope that the new principal can do the same job with as much pride as he did.

Poor leadership from administration. One of the worst Principals ever to lead a school. Great AP level teachers. Outstanding History department.
