I am an African American parent of two children attending this school. My daughter has attended since first grade and my son since kindergarten. A strength of the school is its diversity. My children have friends and classmates of every background, and as a result, have interest in and respect for varied cultural traditions. Ms. Hayward (principal who just retired) was integral to the school's success. She emphasized and facilitated open communication between parents and teachers. She also implemented Sunny Climate rules to discourage bullying and conflict between students and to teach respect for school rules. In the past, almost all of the teachers were tenured. With retirements, many are newer with shorter track records. We need more male and minority teachers. But overall, it is an excellent learning environment. Parent participation is nearly 100%. The office staff are awesome! P. Miles - parent
Great Teachers. Great Principal. Strong PTA, diverse, good parental involvement. I wish there were not so many transfer students. I would like to see more kids from Hercules. Overall very happy here!
My daughter goes here and she loves the teacher and kids there. It's not perfect but it's great. The principal is nice too
I have three children currently attending this school. I think there teachers are great and very helpful. Over all it is a great school.
We have one child that attends and think it's a great school. The teachers are very skilled and cares about the kids education and the Principal works real well with the kids and there is so much parent involvement.
Some of the things that was said was true. As far as the principal, I think she is great, she cares alot about our kids,my daughter been going to the school from 1st grade and is now in the fourth. Ms hayward is a wonderful principal,as well as the teachers. I do think it should be more diverse.
My wife and I have two children at this school. We love the diversity and the quality of education. We have FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) concerns however, which the Principal needs to address. Overall a very good school.
We have three children at this gem of a school, and have been here since it opened. We have had excellent teachers & staff who go the extra mile on educational & personal growth, extraordinary music programs, parent involvement and day care. The ranking would be higher if not for the principal. The children enjoy her attentive nature, but she is not receptive to serious parent concerns. Otherwise, wonderful school community.
Both of my children have gone to Hanna Ranch and I am very pleased with the education and high quality skilled teachers both my children had for the past years. The Principal is very nice and she is a great example of a leader. My daughter will miss everyone at this school as she prepares herself for 6th grade. Parent involvement is the best we can do as parents and I hope to see this grow more for the following school year to come.
We have had kids at Hanna for 6 years now. Overall, it has been a good experience. Like any school, parents have to be involved. The principal, though not always approachable, seems to run things well. The 'mood' of the school is generally nice, and the secretary in the office it terrific.
