I would choose this school above any others in the area. Principal and staff are willing to work with parents, and the teachers are excellent. Had a 'bad' teacher in the beginning but she was eventually removed and replaced with an excellent one.

My youngest child will promote from sixth grade this year and I am very pleased with the early education she has received with Mesa Grande and its' staff. An excellent variety of personalities and teaching methods. Mrs. Sickul is awesome. Every child should have an early experience with an education like the one guided by Mesa. We wil miss you!

I think Mesa Grande is one of the best elementary schools in the area. My oldest started in K and is now in 6th. The teachers are fair, take extra time with those that need it. But they do place a great emphasis on the parents taking an active interest in their childs education. Both of my boys love the school. The student to teacher ration is average. The majority of the teachers return year after year. My 1st grader has the same teacher that my 6th grader had when he was in 1st. All the teachers are very approachable as are the principal and other administrators. Rick Groh

My child is in grade K and what I have seen, the curriculum can vary greatly with the different teachers. In one class the kids can write a sentence, and in another, the kids are still putting words together. The teachers and staff are great. But the school is overcrowded where the children can only perform in one of two performances.

My child attended Mesa Grande from kindergarten through 6th grade. We have been very happy with the caring teachers and staff at Mesa Grande. My son's education was a top priority to the wonderful staff.

My daughter is also in the GATE program. She really likes her teacher because not only is he very interesting, but he is challenging as well. I really do like the idea that they are all in the same classroom. That way, the whole class can work at a faster pace. GATE kids tend to get bored easily because they usually complete thier assignments before other students. I would definately recomment Mesa Grande if you have a GATE student.

I have a 5th grader at this school that has been a student here since Kindergarten. She has excelled at this school in all aspects. All her teachers have been excellent. We have even moved miles away from this school and I still kept her a student here. I don't mind driving the extra distance because my daughter is so happy and content at this school.

The quality of academic programs at this school are fairly good if you get a well educated teacher and one who has a valid intrest in the children. Newer teachers arent quite as up to par in my opinion. I dont like the way the music program is an after school activity and arts are limited. When I went to school art and music were part of the everyday curriculum and I would like to see that return to our schools. The level of parent involvment seems to be high. I do see alot of parent volunteers and a resonable amount of parents at back to school night. I think the dicipline in the schools is lacking and that the problem makes should be punished. It seems when the schools have problems all the kids have to suffer the consequence. I have seenm teachers and vice principals turn their heads.

My daughter recently finished 6th grade at this school. She only attended 5th & 6th grade here through the Gate program. I can tell you the positive impact this program has had on my child from day one of 5th grade. I feel the teachers and administration go out of their way to involve and excite students with their acedemic success. From Student Council to the Acheivers Assembly I was extremely impressed with Mesa Grande. I have other children that attend another school in the district and they receive little to no recogintion for their achievments. Way to go Mesa!

I have two children that attend Mesa Grande Elementary School...and this next school year, my 4 year old will attend as well. I don't have anything negative to say about this school. They try their hardest to meet the students needs. However, I feel they do need some type of program for children like my 7 year old son. He is not eligible for special education, yet he is not at the level of the other students in his class. I am hoping that soon Mesa Grande will have some type of class for children like this, because mainstreaming my son with a class that he cannot follow is not fair for me, nor for him. Amy Potter
