the 2013-2014 school year has been a disgrace. I've have had children in this school for 6 years, and although I have children that should be starting in Kinder next year, I'm afraid we won't be returning. We received a new principal this year. She talks down to the parents like we are not important, and refuses to answer any questions of concerns we might have. She has some serious judgement issues and makes decisions on a whim that don't make any sense. She would rather scream at all the children and take away their lunch, rather then punish the ones that misbehave. If you speak up for your child, then your child is treated differently and ignored. She does not support pto involvement and they have been forced to take a huge step back this year and we all feel that negativity. We loved supporting our school going to the pto events that they put on. I'm sad to see them go.
Best school wonderful staff, Lots for Parent Teacher communication. PTO has lots of Family activities and fun for the hole family the strive to keep it a close community and family oriented.
Thompson has been the best for my children we came from a school were the staff did not care to work with the Parents. I have worked well with every teacher and staff member they listen and try there best to accommodate. The PTO goes above the top to do family oriented activities and has the best interest of the students in mind.
Friendly hard working staff Teachers work with parents well Kids and parents love the PTO activities they have a since of community and are in to doing what ever it is that need to be done for the family's PTO Mom have gone above what a PTO Mom does helping family outside of school
Thompson Elementary has wonderful teachers and staff! I love the fact that the Principal, Mr Funchess is always encouraging the kids with positive affirmations! I would recommend this school to any parent!
First of all, I love Mr. Marcus. Funchess. His work ethic and perserverance and determination have made a world of difference for myself and my child... we don't attend Thompson, however we are familiar with the leadership here and we know its a 5 start school!. love you Mr. Funchess
They truly care about the students and have always gone above and beyond their duties and are genuine in their efforts.
This school is awesome. The staff is wonderful, this school grounds are always kept neat and most of all the teachers and administrative staff really care about the needs of your children. My son was a bit of a handful when he first started there but now, he is one of the top students there. Hopefully in Mr. Tickell's absence the new prinicpal will do just as well as he did.
I must agree thompson is a great school! If your child is starting kindergarten ask for Mrs. Doyle she is wonderful! My child is quite the handful and she did wonderful with him! Spending extra time to make sure he made it through! Not many teachers would do that! She treats every child like they are her own! Wonderful school!
Pretty nice school. I think I can attest to what these last two parents have said. Bravo.
This school is wonderful they work with my kids to help that they understand what is going on in their school the teachers are great! they also have a great after school program!
Teachers put kids first at Thompson. Excellence in learning is the number one priority. Students needs are uppermost consideration. Parents are welcome to become involved in the classroom. The PTA is active and support many of the academic programs, including science fair and science camp. Meet the Masters art program is conducted on site; all classes participate in this program. Weekly music lessons are given in grade 3. Students in grades 4 to 6 can learn to play an instrument of their choosing, taking weekly lessons at the school. Basketball and football teams are organized in grades 5 and 6 to play against other elementary schools. This year-round school has a GATE program, programs for English Language learners, a resource program for students with Individualized Education Programs, and classrooms for the communicatively handicapped. School moral is high. A Peacebuilder school, students are taught to solve disputes in a peaceful manner.
