Both of my children were home schooled through the elementary grades and were first introduced to public schools at Hilmar Middle School. I have nothing but great things to say about Mr.Hixon, Mr.Inman, Mrs.Mello, Mr. Avilla, and Mr.Boxell. as well as Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Yancey in the front office. They as well as others there have shown amazing care of my children. I am really sad to see my son leave for high school next year because they have been so good to my family, I will be forever grateful to them for all there help and guidance to my children as well as myself. This is a great school to send your children to.

I am sorry to admit that the teachers are a mixed bag. Some proficient and others have no teching ability at all. I see children getting inflated grades that do not represent their true academic level. Some of this may be due to Testing required by the State and Federal Gov. If you spend weeks and weeks teaching to a test, sooner or later you will get it right.

My son attended 8th grade at Hilmar Middle School last year, and had 4 different English teachers in one year. He was concerned that he would not be adequately prepared for LA classes at the High School, this year. While several of the teachers are dedicated and qualified, some are not. The new facilities are wonderful. We hope the quality of the education experience will catch up, soon. There is a safety issue as well, regarding student bullies on the campus. It is a longstanding problem. Perhaps it will change.

Hilmar Middle School is amazing. I have gone there as well as my brother and sister, and we love it.I am doing really well. I'm in 8th grade, which now our school has 6, 7, and 8th. The faculty keeps me informed and involved with everything, and my parents, too. Hilmar is a small town that is growing, and the middle school is definitely an important role in our community. I would recommend this school to anyone.
