our principal is awesome! she helps the students and the parents in various situations. there is an after school program for the kids who need a little extra help- we have been there for 5 years and if you contact and stay involved with the teacher, they are very helpful!
Both of my kids went to Cerra Vista from Kinder to 5th grade. This is our last year. We have had wonderful, caring, challenging, teachers since day one. My kids both excel and love school, partially due to the great teachers. Great school, great experience.
Both of my granddaughters attend Cerra Vista and they are doing extremely well - great teachers, great school
i think this school is based on accademic achievements only, very little time for art, poetry, singing,writting... for my opinion the two have to balanced each other or our children wno't feel fullfilled.
My daugter has gone there the last few years and she and I BOTH love it! I feel like it is the best elementary school in Hollister!
My son has attended Cerra Vista for 3 years. I have enjoyed the Teachers. My son excels every year and, in my experience, the Teachers have cared about my son, personally and academically. I would HIGHLY recommend this school to any family that happens to relocate here. I feel safe in the mornings when I leave my child in their hands.
Love the school, great PTO and wonderful teachers and principal, who are all very dedicated! Cerra Vista Rocks!
This school itself is a wonderful place dedicated to education enrichment for elementary students. That being said, this school has a major bully issue. Because the rich upperclass has dominated overthis area, the children at this school tend to be materialistic, lacking morals and all around ungrateful. Any chance that your child may not wear the last hollister clothes or have an iPhone at the age of ten or even be slightly overweight. Say goodbye to their childhood happiness. The malicious angst present in most upperclass elementary cliques is the sort of thing that turns into the same child-to-child hate found in high schools across the nation; where children everywhere are ostricized for not being the epitome of an abercrombie model. SO much for world peace.
My child has been attending CV for 2 years and has been constantly challenged to her maximize her abilities. Her teachers go the extra mile and even have been know to bring homework to student's homes. Not many teachers go to that level. Parents are involved in the classroom alot which has greatly improved the teaching abilities of the teacher. Yes, art and music have been cut way back , but that applies to all schools in this state. My only complaint for this school is the parent involvement for the PTO has dropped enough significantly from last year to this year and that is in turn limiting our abilities to enhance our child's educations including Art and Music. The good news is that is something the parent's can change with some simple fundraising time. So, get involved and keep this school at the top of the list.
Cerra Vista is supposed to be the 'best' school in Hollister, but it's sadly lacking on extra curricular activies. All of the schools funding is going to ELL students, or to keeping the API scores up. This is not the only school in CA that is focused on test scores, but for a school that has this much parent involvement, it would be great to really push the envelope and have much more available to our kids besides the basics. It's sad that they don't have art, and can only take band 30 minutes a week and only in the 4th or 5th grade. That's simply not enough. Contrary to the lack of extra a varied curriculum, Cerra Vista does have some great teachers, and it's a very safe and good environment for learning. Class sizes are way too big at 36 kids. This needs to be addressed.
