This school seems very disorganized to me. Kids wait and line up outside prior to the morning bell before entering the class room- even when it is a chilling 27 degrees! No bus service to the school at all that I am aware of. It is a mad house trying to pick up or drop off your child; traffic can come to a complete stop an entire block from the school. There is a turn-a-bout on the North side of the school but it was fenced in to make room for administrator and teacher parking. No YMCA after school. There is after school programs, but they are really tailored to poor or spanish as a primary language kids.
I love this school, love our Principle love our teachers and all their hard work. I wouldn't have my kids at any other school.
My daughter went to school here last year. I felt like there could be more supervision. Also, not a whole lot of teacher-parent communication. It was an ok school, but could use improvement.
my two daughters went to this school 2006-2007, and I was very happy with the teachers. my k student had a bilingual teacher, I was a little hesitant at first but she turned out to be a great teacher and as for my 3rd grader she was reading at 1st grade level and at the end of the school year she was at 3rd grade level so I was very happy with the teachers. as for the principals interaction with the parents I wasn't very happy with and I was a parent that was there almost everyday for both my daughters and not once throughout the school year had a conversation with the principal. and as far as cleanliness of the lunch areas was not to happy about. but once again the teachers are great.
My son has attended this school from K-3rd grade. I have been pleased with the level of parental support and encouragement of parental support by the staff. Everyone cares about the students from the principal to the janitors. There is a peacebuilding program that I believe has been very successful in encouraging and rewarding the children for their sense of community and conflict resolution.
Both of my children went through R.O. Hardin School from K-5th and had very dedicated, professional, caring teachers. The whole staff is constantly taking additional training to improve their skills and keep current with new stategies to help the children learn. There are opportunities to take music, and many teachers provide enrichment in their classrooms as well.
for a community school there is a strong commitment and school spirit.
Very disappointed! There is not enough money for supplies. No dress code! Kids walk around with long hair, earrings, and inappropriate clothing. My kindergarten experience was horrific. Two teacher's aides assigned to watch 60 kids. I walked right on to the campus and could have left with anyone of the kids.
I have two kids at R. O. Hardin, one in her last year. We have been extremely happy with the teachers and other staff. The school is lacking in school spirit, though, as well as parent participation.
