Sun Empire Elementary has a high level of commitment to teacher training. Grade level teachers work together to share new ideas and techniques in teaching. The result is that when the students are regrouped in classrooms each year they were all taught the same thing the prior year, making it easier for them to progress quicker together. Special reading programs to jump start early readers and assist those struggling are utilized as well as a special afterschool program for accelerated readers that is a part of the G.A.T.E. program. Art and some music is offered but athletics seems to be somewhat lacking. There is a small core of volunteers but when asked many of the other parents will pitch in for specific projects.
