With quality leadership which chooses quality teachers you get quality assurance. There are opportunities to get college credit, for free. There are Community Action Programs CAP that send the youth out into the community to engage the maps (books) in the territory (community). There are community presenters and Tribal elders weaving (contributing)in and out through the school year. I believe the children are safe, asked to be prepared and fully engaged in their education, community and futures. If you as a parent have given your child your best, this school will do the rest...challenge the child to lean, learn, live, and listen. The size of the classes allows the child to be Seen, Respected, Taken seriously and Understood. This school takes full advantage of the location. Ocean, rivers, forestry, Indigenous peoples and parents.

My niece is living with us and going to this school. She is learning a lot about taking control of her own education. She is currently involved in a virtual classroom activity and spending long nights and week ends making commercials. This has been a great experience for her, although she is not Yurok, she is enjoying the Native component of the school. She is sometimes amazed at how much she has learned about the Tribe and the people of the region. She is on track to graduate from High school with two years of college credits. A great opportunity and she is certainly maturing from this experience.
