Grossmont seems to be a good school, but I find the administrative staff difficult to work with. I have also left messages with my son's teachers and very rarely receive return calls.
Great high school with tons of tradition, activies and seasoned staff. I would highly recommend to give your student not only a good high school experience, but a good education.
Great school spirit! Tradition and history and a great sense of pride is instilled into the students of themselves and the school. Great leadership and learning programs! A great learning institution!
While less than a stellar school, Grossmont is probably still above average. It has the advantage of being in an area that is older, but solidly middle class. It doesn't have the spoiled rich kid problems of schools in more wealthy or newer areas, and not the problems of schools in disadvantaged areas. Still the test scores and academic standards should probably be better, given the demographics of the area from which most of its students come. Some of the teachers are excellent, while others seem far less so. The quality of teachings seems to me less consistent than hoped for, perhaps reflecting a somewhat lax attitude towards teacher training and monitoring by the administration.
my freshman year i really liked grossmont but now my jonior year im not happy at all. nothing has changed with the whole prop h thing. ive seen some new gardens put in but nothing with the classrooms. some of my classes had ac some didnt. my english got into the 90s during the summer. if there was a big earthquake i dont think the school would stand. we got a new bathroom put in but that was from another thing that the district had a couple years ago but didnt get around to ghs. we have a new feild but no new track cause they spent the money on something else. i left ghs and im now attending Grossmont Middle College High School.
Grossmont is a very good school. It's test scores are above average and the percent of children that move onto college is also above average. The quality of the prinicpal does not determine how well the teachers teach. The teachers are certainly doing their job, and doing it very well!
The newly elected school board just caused the resignation of a wonderful superintendent, Granger Ward, who provided wonderful leadership. Within hours, this school board, which has its own agenda, hired a 'puppet' superintendent. Grossmont Union High School District, mainly due to voter apathy, has a school board with its own very narrow agenda, which does not include updating the curriculum, but rather wants to go back to the dark ages. They do not respect the diversity of our student population and their many needs. What school board would reject bond issues that would help our schools?
