I was initially impressed with the school after attending open house. My daughter is in her second year and I'm having serious doubts that we made the right decision. Our local high school is a California Distinguished school and I'm seriously considering enrolling her there in the fall. I have to question the teaching ability of a few of the teachers she's had the past two years and I'm very concerned what the future holds. It's her intention to be accepted at a top university but I'm not sure some of the teachers or counselors can guide her there. What most concerns me, is that many of the students don't conduct themselves in a Christian manner. This was the primary reason we are sending are daughter to a Catholic high school. I'm beginning to feel we are throwing good money away. The sports program was never even taken into consideration but we soon learned that being a coach's favorite will get you more playing time than ability, commitment and being a team player. I hope Mr. Beck can lead Amat into becoming the first rate school I thought our family had invested in.
The positive ratings from last year are misleading. This school is great...IF your child is a superstar in sports. If not, don't bother. You could find the same education and same "favoritism" by coaches and cliques that you would find at any local public school.
My son has attended this school since his freshman year. This school ,and the teaching staff are wonderful. The monthly tuition is reasonable for an equal private school for this area. That have many after school activities for all students!. Student academic help is available all year.My son will graduate this year, and has been proud to be a Lancer!!!!!!
The discipline there is the best as it could be. the lessons taught there are at there highest point. I would recommend anyone there that hats to achieve in their life if its either in sports or education or maybe even both.
My son is finishing up Sophomore year and I couldn't be happier with Amat. Like anywhere in life, you have to push yourself to succeed. Amat gives their students the tools and opportunities to be successful; it is up to the student (or parent) to find and use these tools. It has been a priveledge to be part of the Amat family and worth the investment. My son would agree. He is proud to be a Lancer!
Great school! Discipline, good morals, great education & work ethic. Prepares students for college. Proud to be married to an Alumni, my son graduated last year & our daugher is currently attending. Great group of parents who participate in school activities.
The teachers here are really preparing us for the rigors of college.I'm taking honors & accelerated subjects.Everyday you have something to do as if there's no end but it's better to work hard now.(The more you work hard, the easier it gets).
I'm very glad I chose to go to Bishop Amat Memorial High school. Sure the rules are pretty strict, but at the same time the atmosphere is pretty laid-back. They have plenty of awesome clubs and extra activities you can join. Also, no one will get lonely here. If you happen to be alone, there will always be at least one person that will invite you to hang out with them :) The teachers are pretty good and the schedule is pretty convenient. I love it here :)
Excellent school. I have never been to a school that has this degree of organization and parental access. I can access my daughter's scores online the day she takes the test and what classes she is taking on any particular date. The teachers are very accessible and it is obvious from my daughter's work that she is learning a lot everyday. I am very satisfied with this school. If your child has honor classes he/she won't have any free time during the evening. The workload is very heavy.
An excellent school with a real catholic atmosphere. No worries about the other kids who won't follow the rules. They would be out of the school immediately.Uniform policy are really strict, principal is doing a good job with everything else.
As a former teacher, I can honestly say that it is one of the best schools high schools in the area. The teachers provide rigor, support, enthusiasm and an overall great learning environment. The students are respectful, motivated and try their best to succeed. The campus ministry and religion department is true to the teachings of the Catholic Church and provides opportunities to deepen the faith. There is a vast array of team sports and clubs. Lastly, Bishop Amat is a family!
i know..Bishop or St. Lucy's right? well you should choose Bishop Amat if your daughter has great potential in sports, particularly softball. If your child wants to concentrate more on the academics then send her to St. Lucy's..it will be better because there are no boys..but i believe girls need boys around. we are in teh real world and they need to be social and around everyone.
If your middle school offers a rigorous curriculum you won't regret going to bishop amat. Especially if you are taking advanced math subjects. That would really help you. In that case good luck!
the school offers International Baccalaureate and AP courses which prepares the students for the rigors of college. (only to the students who qualifies)
it's worth to go this school if you are taking AP classes.if your child is focused and wants to be challenged then this is the high school for you!
if your child wants a challenging school then this is the school for you.take AP courses & international baccaulareate and college will be a breeze!
Excellent high school prep. for strong students It's really worth it when you really are advance, you really have to be consistent if not , that will be stressful for you!
