INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

Both my kids have attended Moulton. Between both kids, we have had 9 different teachers over the past 6 years. My kids have both learned so much and it has given them a strong foundation for middle school. I also feel that our Principal, Mrs. Cambell, goes out of her way to listen to the staff, get to know the kids, spend time in the classroom, and just has on "open door/open ear" policy. She really supports parents and kids. Great school.

I love Moulton Elementary school. My son is going into second grade and I have been volunteering in his classrooms and am very impressed. Everyone from the office staff, teachers, PTA and volunteers are so involved and dedicated. I just love it! RMIQ is a blessing to have too! Moulton Rocks!!!

Moulton is not a bad school but we do have concerns about playground safety. Young children should not be allowed to play soccer without adequate supervision. It is a sports involving a lot of body contact. Our son was bullied and injured there and had to see a doctor, but we didn't even receive a phone call reporting the incident. Our younger son was also injured at the preschool playground - he had 4 stitches!!!! Again, no apology from school! The passed two years hadn't been easy for us. We finally decided to transfer to another school.

I wrote the "Sept 17, 2010" post. Here is my update. a. The front office staff (Ms. Stucky and Ms. Baker) are quite impressive. Even though there are over 700 students in this school (and I'm not a regular volunteer), they know me and my daughter by name. They also know (without looking it up) what grade she's in, and who her teacher is. And if you need anything, they try to get things done right away. b. Due to the budget cuts (understandable), my daughter's class size is 32. Regardless, her teacher maintains a very informative website, and sends home a weekly communication sheet that tells parents what the kids have been learning and what they're about to learn. I appreciate her efforts very much. c. The parent volunteers, the PTA and the RMIQ Foundation have helped make this school a solid place to learn. Aside from Math, Reading and Writing, she also has Music, Science, Art Masters, PE, Running club, Computer class (once in a while) and a field trip.

The Teachers are great, the staff is amazing and the families that help with the fundraisers and our Annual Carnival are what makes our school special. Moulton has had a good standing in our community since it opened in the 70's and it has continued on through the years. I am also a big fan because my brothers and I attended Moulton as well as my nieces and now my daughters are attending Moulton and I hope that they someday can tell their children that they too went to Moulton when they walk their children to school.

Moulton is a tight knit family school, we have phenomenal dedicated teachers who give our children a great learning experience each day. We also have the best PTA, with parents who give of themselves and provide up to date technology, art and music programs to make our school the great campus it is.

I fell in love with this school 5 years ago when we were looking for a school for our oldest child to attend. It reminded me so much of the school I went to as a child. They still have a great balance of academic education, arts and PE. This stood out to me because there are so many schools today that only seem to stress academic education. The children at Moulton Elementary are well rounded due to the amazing teachers and PTA at the school.

Since moving here three years ago, I have been consistantly impressed with the faculty and the PTA funded programs that make sure the children receive a top-notch education. If we had not moved into Moulton's school district, my kids would not have the high-level education they are receiving. In Kindergarten, my daughter watched a puppet shw of The Nutcracker and this year my son spent the night on The Pilgrim (an 1800s tall ship replica). WHen I tell family and friends the activites the kids are up to, they always say 'What shcool is that???'. Today they even start running club after lunch! So happy to be at Moulton!!!

Moulton is the kind of school a parent dreams of finding for their child. Just walk in the front door, and the friendliest, most helpful office staff ever greets you with warm smiles. The principal is always welcoming, loves the kids and is especially open to new, innovative ideas to improve the school. The teachers, well, as a teacher myself, I know how hard it is to find such professional, dedicated and caring individuals who sole goal is to educate each and every child to their utmost potential while making learning interesting! Finally, Moulton has an unparalled PTA with a roster of superstars. The PTA parents have written grants to bring in money, hired out special teachers to go above and beyond average instruction, created musical and artistic programs that showcase the children's talent and inspire goals in them that often get realized, and so so much more. There is a technology-based level of instruction at Moulton that only exists because of dedication, hard work and learning by parents, teachers, and administrators alike. Not many schools can offer so much to children based on the community's sheer desire to do what is best for the kids when so little funding is actually provided by the state. Finally, the students at Moulton are incredible. They want to learn. Many come before school either to tutor other children or to be tutored - all just for community service. Students light up when you tell them that there is an opportunity for them to represent their school and learn more. In fact, recently a group of Moulton students won 1st place in the state of California for a creativity competition which included logical puzzle solving, improvisation and team work. These kids shined and Moulton celebrated them with a great big assembly. The students are kind, responsible and motivated. We are proud of our school and hope that this reward can provide a means of thanking this terrific school!

Moulton is a wonderful school. It has a down home feel but has top notch technology/tools that the teachers and students get to benefit from. Thanks to our wonderful PTA who have funded these programs and materials and our principal, Debi Culbertson who has the leadership and knowledge to make our school the best in the district. We are so blessed to have a wonderful front staff too!! Thanks Moulton!!! I only wish had more years here!!

Moulton is a great school that I chose through open enrollment after visiting all other Laguna Niguel elementary schools. The PTA is outstanding and has provided so many extras for every child for many years. We have two high-end computer labs. Every teacher has a document camera, SmartSlate, laptop and projector. Our front office staff is the best. Moulton has been blessed with terrific teachers who are extremely dedicated and work so well together.

I think that there is too much emphasis on moving the 4th an5th grade classes around to different teachers like they do in middle school. This takes far too much time away from learning as the amount of minutes the children are acually learning has been reduced (the school has not increased the time the children are there to compensate for the movement to and from class as they do in middle school). Test scores have gone down. Kids are taking time to correct papers instead of teachers doing it (the school day is NOT 8 hours and if you look at the parking lot after school you can see that at Moulton there are a select few that are dedicated) maybe if they were not protected by tenure there would be more of an emphasis on teachers actually teaching.

This is my son's first year at Moulton. We looked at all the options in our area for schools and found that with the leadership and enthusiasm of the Principle that the students and faculty were very involved. The PTA works overtime to provide support to the teachers and students. We really feel that we have found a positive learning environment for our children.

This is my child's first year at Moulton and I couldn't be more pleased with her progress in second grade. Her teacher, Ms. Olmstead has assisted in building her confidence academically as well as socially. My family is very involved in the activities sponsored by the PTA and CSR and we are also very pleased with Kim Bick, PTA Pres. and other committee leaders. The Masters Art Program in my child's class is exceptional and I would be pleased to see more similar programs offered.
