The principal and teachers are great. The 30+ students to teacher ratio for the lower grades is the main reason that we will not be returning to this school this fall. I volunteer weekly and have seen how little time the kids are engaged in productive learning. The traffic for drop off and pick up are also very hectic.

George White has excellent test scores and highly qualified and motivated teachers. It also has terrific parent/community support, which an active PTA and Booster Club on campus. Recent additions/upgrades to the school include a new science lab, new computer lab, and school garden.

We transferred to GW from another CUSD school and we could not be happier with the decision to go to this school. The principal is so caring and he interacts with the students. The teachers seem to teach with pride at this school rather than complaining about thier jobs which was the case at our old school. Parent involvment is high. The students, parents, and staff all seem to be happy. My kids love it here.

My child is not receiving an education at this school! The high student teacher ratio is keeping my child from being noticed by the teacher! If I could afford a private school he would be there now! I can't keep worrying! Looking to change employment, and looking for a second job.

Principal makes his own rules against what is right, and against board policy! The majority of major problems with the school are beyond school leadership control. And rest with the majority of local parents, district parents, and state parents whom seem to be blind!

I cannot say enough about this school. The Principal, Teachers, Parents and PTA are all passionate and involved. I am seeing a positive shift regarding the interest level of the parents...and the understanding of the relevance of a great education. My kids are very happy with their teachers, they have a high interest level as well, and they are relishing their learning experience at GW.

We have truly enjoyed our experience at George White! Both my children have had positive experiences. The teachers are dedicated professionals who care for their students and go above and beyond to help each child succeed!

To the previous poster that said, 'The teachers work during school hours, and don't want to work overtime!': I'm sorry you've had a bad experience, but that statement is bunk. The teachers at GW are terrific and don't just work 'during school hours.' If you were on campus afterschool, you would see that by just surveying the parking lot, the teachers are there for at least an hour and a half afterschool. There are some teachers that even tutor students afterschool. Even given that, their work doesn't end when they leave the campus. Teachers do the majority of grading assignments and prep at home. There were a couple of days this year were teachers 'worked to the contract' because of the situation in the district. It was limited to those days. The teachers here are the best of the best. I personally saw teachers prepping in their classrooms over spring break.

I have a children currently attending this school, and in the process of looking into private schools. The principal tells you what you want to hear! The teachers work during school hours, and don't want to work overtime! This may be tied to Capo USD problems! Hard to beleive most parents that I talk to are in the dark with the district problems. A unfortunate time to be in this district!

We have had three kids go through George White Elementary school. We moved to this neighborhood because we had heard it was a great school. It has been simply the best educational experience for our kids. Great teachers, great parents, and a wonderful principal. After being a part of the school for 9 years we will miss is it! We feel our kids have been prepared well for Middle & High school. Go GW!
