I have one son coming out and one that just started. The staff is wonderful, the teachers really seem to care and are always willing to listen and help. My son was in Mrs. Amighi's class last year and she is one of the best teachers at Brainard, I admire her dedication to her students. She's wonderful!
The leadership in this school is a little unorganized. The discipline is good but the safety could use some attention. At school's end, the children are just released without any knowledge if the right child is going home with the right parent. That falls into the unorganized catagory of the leadership. Overall, however I like the school and love my child's kindergarden teacher.
Currently, my son attends Brainard Avenue Elementary. This school is great and expects the best out of each student. Last sat test they had, they scored lowed in reading, and then his teacher structured the teaching to improve their scores. I thinks this school is great.
Brainard Avenue trully cares about the education, the safety, and the school premises. My son entered school in the third grade at Brainard. Both his third greade teacher, Ms. Soutar and currently his fourth grade teacher, Ms. Gustin, expect, allow for, influence, inspire the greatest potential from my son, with understanding, compassion, and a true model of old school teachership that only people who love to teach exemplify. These teachers care about each one of their students! The principal Yvonne Lamar, is very inspiring. You can just see it when she walks around the campus in the morning. She is always smiling and uplifting to the students. I am glad my son attends Brainard.
I love my son's school. We transferred from our home school because the staff and teachers were very negative. When I arrive to register my son I was greated by the friendly staff. My son is now in the second grade and he has the best teacher - Mrs. Bunch. My son loves her. I appreciate her positive attitude toward my son. He has some remaining struggles from prematurity and Mrs. Bunch has never complained. She simply finds a positive alternative that makes the day enjoyable for my son. His attitude toward homework and school in general has matured greatly. I would highly recommend Brainard - just as it was highly recommeded to me. This school is truly a blessing.
