my son is a student there, he as well as other students say the teacher eats in class in front of them and yells at them. So my wife went to the School to talk to the teacher and heard her yelling at them from outside The door. Maybe it's called very loud talking, you be the judge .. Very good after school program boys and girls club. I like that the school Gives Awards to the students every few months but gives the parents 1 or 2 Day notice :(.

All of the above comments were true when it came to Dr. Ann (formerly Dr Koga) until there was a real issue. The after school program was a mess in the past. When I spoke to the principal, she had limited control. I contacted the people who approved the program and theres been bad blood every since. Dr ANN can not separate personal feelings from business. I no longer feel the way I did since this happened. I hope that no real issues happens with your children so that you can continue to be at ease. For me I am glad this is my last year having to deal with this high level of unprofessionalism and I WILL NOT recommend this school for anything other than conveience.

This is my daughters first year attending school. She is in kindergarten, and her teaher is excellent. Dr. Koga is very supportive of parental concerns and i will keep my child there as long as possible.

Our oldest son attended Holmes frm K to 5th grade. During these years we have gone through several Principals. Dr. Koga is now the Principal for Holmes. She has made a BIG different in Holmes. She's a wonderful, great and cares about your students. We need more caring Principal, Counselors and Teachers like Dr. Koga.

My two children have gone here for 2 years, now starting 2nd and 4th grade fall 07. Some teachers are excellent while others seem to be more harm than good. The principle seems unaffected and incapable of managing staff and programs. There is no bully control as offenders are given no discipline and are not removed from situations where they cause issues. Parent involvement seems non-existent.

My child is in the 2nd grade and the homework she receives is excessive. It takes us anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 hrs a night. As a working mother this is very hard. I agree with homework but there needs to be a limit.

The teachers are great to name a few Mrs Valenzuela, Ms Chapman and Mr Hegamin but the office staff needs a lot of work. When you make requests either in person or in writing they seem to be ignored. This is not a good way to encourage parent involvement if the parents wishes are disregarded.

I'm very happy with the new after school program and staff. Ms.Lona Johnson is a very straight forward team leader who shows respect to everyone and is also liked very much by her students. We are very happy to have Ms. Lona. She has showed a big improvement from last years after school staff. Thank you to all who have made this change:)

I feal the after school program is not very well cordinated as to doing homework and showing any kind of disapline. I was not very happy with this years after school program. The children were always out of control when I went to pick up my child. I hope this coming year the Principal shows some kind of involment to how the after school program is ran. It's a free program which is great for parents who ca not afford daycare, but should that mean that our children should not be watched properly. A very concerned parent...
