Service hours are way too high for working parents, there is far too many early dismissals and "off: school days, which make it very difficult for working parents to arrange daycare for "1" day! The school could use some remodeling and there is a lot of misc. fees and purchases needed throughout the year. Staff and teachers are great and caring! They make a good effort in teaching the children.
I have been at this school now for 4 years. I have to say the education is excellent! The kids are all a communtiy with each other. It is a very safe enviroment. The tution is low compared to all the other private schools. The 40 service hours are not hard to complete. Both my husband and I work and they give many opportunities throughout the year. The Festivial in Sep is so much fun, We work it every year and get our hours and at the same time meet so many people. If you are looking for a great school you should call and take a tour! I have a 3rd and 1st grader and my youngest will be there in 2 years.!
This school is OK, not to the nicest or newest buildings, in fact the whole school could use a little "face lift", new lunch benches, etc..but the education, as far as I've seen is at an acceptable level. The one thing that I find absolutely ridiculous is the number fo service hours required from the parents! 40 hours/year is A LOT for households with 2 full-time working parents. And if they are not completed by April, parents get charged $40/hr for the unserved hours, mind you tuition is pretty high and they aslo add a "fund-raiser" fee to each month...seriously thinking of switching my children to another school.
Staff, teachers and parents have a close family relationship and camaraderie. I have 2 children, one will be graduating and the younger one will be in third grade. Love and always support our school.
My daughters are the third generation attending school and community. It's a well worth sacrifice!!!!
I am a current parent of St.Pancratius. I have two children that attend this school,as well as a niece and nephew. I think that the school is excellent. The students are well rounded. They have a great and new computer lab. They also have a computer in each classroom for the students to use. Many great activites for the students to get involved in. I feel the education is excellent. My daughter is in Kindergarten and can read very well. She is doing excellent in math. My son who is in 2nd grade is excelling in reading, math and history. Parents are very involved on all levels. Staff is great. Principal is excellent, great communication with students and parents. Father Joe the Paster is very invloved with the school. My nephew graduated and is excelling in HighSchool. My Niece is on the High Honor roll in 8th. I recommend this school!
I attended this school from K-8 and loved it. We had about 9 rigorous subjects and teachers that all cared. Sure, you might not get the perfect teacher everytime, but overall it was good. I loved the uniforms and wish I did not attend a public high school. Also, the grading system is rigorous because A's start at 94%, prompting kids to work harder. I loved this school and the faculty and principals were nice. I really enjoyed it on a whole.. a few kids were mean, but that's not the school's fault!
I sent my daughter to this school from 6th grade on and I am glad I did. The education level is higher. Her confidence level improved and she a lot more motivated. Overall I am happy with the school and staff as they offer education and moral values for today's kids. Love the uniforms too,
School relies on computer program for Reading Comprehension grades. When the computer was not working students were basically penalized. I didn't see enough writing in the older grades. I was constantly surprised what my children said was discussed in classe. Not enough communication when there was a problem in a subject area. I always felt I found out too late that my child was not performing in a subject area. Nonsensical uniform rules. Principal very unresponsive to parental concerns regarding conflicts and uniforms. Saw discipline dispensed unfairly. Extracurricular activities available. Parents who put a lot of time into the school are unappreciated. I suspect that parents of younger grades are less involved than older grades. If I had to do it over again, I would have taken my kids out in the 5th/6th grade and sent them to another school for a change of scene.
I sent all three of my children to St. Pancratius and they have all come out of it with the type of friendships and experiences that last a life time. The sense of community and family feeling is unlike any other around. -Chaunte
