After teaching for more than 20 years, I can tell you that dress code makes a difference. Students focus on learning and are less distracted. The teachers and staff work hard to make a difference on paper and in student's education. If dress code is upsetting, there a many other non-dress code schools nearby.

There is way too much emphasis on the 'mandatory' dress code which every parent should be told that they have the legal right to opt out of. School is about teaching kids not about automating them. They need to learn how to make proper decisions including appropriate dress, and what books they want to read. New Vista is too concerned about test scores (which are pathetically low) and how to make them look better on paper. The root problem is not whether someone's pants are faded but rather why 7th graders can't read at even a 5th grade level.

I work at NVMS, as a first year teacher coming from 1st grade, teaching middle school was an eye opener and challenging this year. I thought it would be horrible, after hearing bad things. However, most of the kids there are good kids just trying to figure themselves out. They are in middle school, hormones change daily as do behavior and the desire to do work. Most days are really good. The staff works together for the best interest of all students. The administrators also look at for all children, that is our job. We as teachers, as a staff, are there for the kids. It is a good school no matter what anyone says.

We just moved in two years ago and coming from a private school, I really like the way they teach my kids here. Being of different nationality I was scared that they might be out of place. But kids here are very nice. My children are safe here at NVMS. Angelica Saromo

I find that New Vista Middle School is a great place for a child go. The principal and the teachers all work together in order for the students to meet every requirement necessary. The school is very clean and pleasent. Both of my sons have gone to this school and another is on his way.

The academic programs are good. Their dance team is number 1 in the district.

The entire educational climate of this school has deteriorated over the last several years. Mediocrity is now the accepted standard. Passing tests to look good, is the accepted norm, and the children are suffering from this. The pressure to confirm to dress codes, instead of learning has become a detriment to our children's education. They are to fit within a reading level, and not receive credit for reading books 'outside the program'. The lack of adult supervision outside the classrooms, has permitted an unsafe environment for the school's population.

So far, this is the greatest middle school I've been to. It has great teachers and staff that are willing to work with you. I think anyone who enrolls in NVMS is lucky, because this is a very educated school. Thank you, NVMS!

New Vista Middle School is an excellent school. They provide many extracurricular activities such as military & modern dance, Basketball, (boys and girls), drama, along with a number of other clubs and activities. The school is kept clean, and the environment is very productive for learning. Most of the teachers and administration take a personal interest their students. They work hard to help every student be successful and this often times using their own time and money. New Vista Middle School is truly and excellent school.

I definitively recommend that future student that graduated from Elementary school who live or plan on moving to the Aantelope Valley, to enroll at New Vista Middle School. It's definitively a great school and keep you interested in education. I attended this school on it's grand opening and til this day I miss it.....a lot (And I'm a college student now). Each school staff member will all pay a huge interests in your child or children lives for their future plans because they want to know were your headed in life and what your dreams our. So, take it from me, my eduacation process at New Vista Middle School was definitively about great education that parents hope for their children or child.
