While no school experience is ever completely free of problems, I've been enormously impressed with how the administration of this school deals with problems head-on and resolves them equitably. Our 8th grader started here in 6th grade so I can only comment on the middle school. She has had excellent teachers with the exception of one who, because of the students' lack of progress and parents' complaints, is no longer there. That's not something that would happen so readily at a public school. Discipline problems are dealt with swiftly and fairly, and communication with parents has generally been great (although it has suffered this year when transitioning from SchoolLoop to another system). LVCS offers a great advanced math curriculum with a few 8th graders even in Algebra II, and a creative but rigorous language arts/history curriculum that challenges all levels. They stage a play and a musical every year; offer classes in both arts and technology; have an orchestra, choir and band, and an impressive number of athletic teams. LVCS manages to give a private school education at a public school on a fraction of the funding. My student and I are glad we were lucky enough to be here.

My daughter has just entered the 8th grade and we have been so pleased with this school. The principal knows every child by name and is extremely involved with the kids. The school is extremely focused on what is best for the child and the environment is both nurturing and challenging. A++++++++++ to LVCS!!!!!

We love LVCS. My daughter is receiving an excellent education. There is great parent participation, the principal is very involved and the teachers she has had have been great !

I am an 8th grader at LVCS and I think it is a good school, expect for a few things. The rules are out of line and there are too many interruptions. Some of the teachers do not focus of the task at hand and go off on tangents about their personal life. Other than that, it's OK.

I couldn't be happier. My daughter loves the Charter. It's amazing what this school gives to their children. The teachers are amazing as well as the class balance, schoolwork, enrichment and clubs that the children can participate in. My first grader has grown in leaps and bounds in just a few months! Go LVCS!!!

LVCS has a wonderful community feel. Tons of opportunities for parents to be involved in the school. My daughter is in first grade and since she began her kindergarten year she has thrived so much academically and socially. Not only does LVCS have an incredible group of teachers, but they have specialists for other subjects such as Science, Art, Spanish, Reading, Music and P.E. Our family feels lucky to be a part of the LVCS community!

LVCS has the best teachers and parent involvement. As a charter school with less funding, due to fundraisers and great money management, they have been able to keep special programs like Art, Music and PE while other schools are cutting these programs.

My friend's children go to LVCS and they not only learn they enjoy it. They speak highly of their classes and teachers. It's nice to see children learning and enjoying it. That says a lot about the school, the teachers, the staff and the parents.

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled.
