My child has loved her teachers and they've all been very easy for parents to talk to. The teachers, principal and staff are committed to the children.
I think Buena Vista has the most dedicated teachers and school personnel in Lompoc they make sure each and every student has everything they need in order to grow into very successful individuals. Our principle is very supportive of the teachers and parents she will make time out of her busy schedule if we have concerns or any questions.
Teachers are friendly. Principal is always willing to listen to students. Wonderful environment surroundings. School is always clean and parents are always going the extra mile to participate. This school has a lot of programs for the children and their families (carnivals, family nights, music programs, karate classes and so much more for the kids to participate in). Overall it's been a wonderful school to be part of.
The teachers at Buena Vista have a very high level of commitment, enthusiasm, and knowledge.
I was disappointed. The classroom teachers are supposed to be implementing SPARKS, which is physical activity, however many of them are not. My biggest complaint about this school is the adminstrative clerks. They act like you are disturbing them if you come into the office to ask a question or pay for school lunches.
The school could improve on the advertising of additional activities and instead of parents just signing up for PTA and never receiving a call actually have all parents that have volunteered be able to participate.
This school used to be great; but has gone completely downhill due to a change in principals. Although parents do participate and some teachers are trying, the complete lack of support from the principal makes it a place where undisciplined children run the classroom and those serious about learning lose out big. Try using the 'school of choice' option to enroll your child elsewhere.
I believe that since Mrs. Hardy has become the school principal, a lot of emotional changes have been noticed. The children show Mrs. Hardy a lot of respect, courtesy and attention, because she returns the same emotional exchange. She puts forth a strength and business command that is very refreshing in the elementary. The children tend to be more respectful toward other adults. It's a good, safe, nourishing environment.
I have one daughter who attended 1st and 2nd grade here. I have another daughter who attended 4th and 5th grade at Buena Vista. The quality of their school improved greatly while attending this school. Their teachers have been excellent. The principal, Mrs. Hardy, has been there for two years. She is a strong disciplinarian, but also very loving and rewarding when there is good behavior. She is very involved with the students and my kids feel that she is a good friend to them. There is a strong feeling of respect among teachers and students. The only thing that is not so great is the school lunches. Send a sack lunch. Your kids will thank you.
