great school!!! weve been blessed here. both my kids are doing really well. awesome teachers and the parents are very involved :)
I am very happy with the education my children are receiving. I would say k-5 gets 5 stars and 6-8 gets 3 stars. I agree with the parent below, the bullying in the middle grades is getting worse and I too believe it is because of the principal not following through. The elementary school teachers are all amazing. The teachers and parents are what is holding this school together.
This school has given my kids a good education. Above what I had expected. The only problem is the lack of a good principal. There have been issues with bullies and conduct issues with children and she does nothing or pushes the problem on to the after school program. If there was a better principal both of my kids would stay there but they are both leaving next year.
This school has the best teachers
I have taught at Burcham for many years and feel fortunate to have taught with some of the finest educators in LBUSD. What makes Burcham especially powerful is the collaboration and care that is put forth by every adult on the campus. Our Safe and Civil Schools committee strives to make Burcham a nurturing, positive climate for every child to feel successful. The Burcham teachers and staff truly care about each child on the campus each day.
I have a 2nd grader and thus far we have had a great experience. The test scores don't reflect the education my daughter has received. I love the feel of community and the fact that my 2nd child will start kindergarten next year with at least 13 other known children from our neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this school to others...
I am a proud parent and involved with the PTA of our wonderful K-8th School. This to me is one of the best small and safe Schools is Long Beach. We have one of the safest Schools in Long Beach thanks to our on site staff and our wonderful Mr. Leach is our School security guards. He works with the students and teaches them how to get along and work with others. I feel safe leaving my children at School everyday. Thanks to a wonderful wonderful School like Burcham K-8
Sending my two children to Burcham K-8 school is one of the best parenting decisions I have made. The small class size, active PTA, talented teachers, helpful office staff, enthusiastic principal, nurturing counselor, comforting school nurse, rigorous academic program, and beautiful grounds make this school a perfect place for children to grow academically, physically, and socially. It is a school that is constantly improving. Our standardized test scores have grown an amazing 168 points over 6 years! If you are considering Burcham, call for a tour. But you'd better hurry. Burcham has a waiting list for Kindergarten.
My girls loved their experience at this school. Great teachers and resources. I couldn't be more pleased with their education and experience.
We just completed our first year at Burcham and my sons kindergarten experience exceeded my expectations. His teacher was amazing, she went out of her way not only teaching academics but also trying to keep kindergarten fun with painting and baking days and a lot of activities to keep the children interested. I, too was concerned with this schools low API and watched carefully for any problems, I didn't find any. I think the combination of a thoughtful teacher and a new, ethusiastic and qualified principal have led this school to greater heights. I am anxious to see if our 1st grade year will compare with our Kindergarten year....the bar has been set high!
