I went here 13 years ago, but I see a lot of teachers are still there, and a lot of the activities are the same. I had a really hard time at home during my time there, and the teachers were super supportive. They got me involved in activities and college prep programs. I always had someone to talk to when I needed. Yes, there were gang members at school, but if you didn't bother them they didn't bother you- they were just another kid there. It was a special place for a lot of us kids I think. If your kid wants to succeed there they have everything they need to do so.

Franklin Classical middle school......Well. Let's just say its not the best school really, and it's not so much a 'Classical' school. Ever Since i was in 6th grade, i hated being there, so much gang-banging, students being picked on (from my experience) and not really much help from teachers. I had very good grades in there, and I consider myself lucky that i didnt fail in that school. Being in there caused me to be depressed, have low self esteem, and wasn't really inspiring. I go to poly now, and i had so much better experience then being in middle school. It's very poor, low budget, and one of the lowest test scoring schools out there. I hated being in that school. But i learned alot. I wish i had a different past, but being poly helped me get through it. There is such a big difference.

when friends and family members found out that my son is going to franklin, they were devastated. they told me to get a special transfer to move my kid out from there because they said it is not a good school. well, i am not going to get a special transfer. only one person disagreed. that was my brother in law. he went to franklin and look how he turned out, lol. he's very smart and now is serving his country. so, my point is, i will give franklin a chance regardless of what my friends and family say.

The support system at Franklin is amazing! Everyone here is looking out for a common goal - the students. Teachers always have someone else to lean on and students who were kicked out of other schools have even said that they wish they'd been at Franklin sooner. They are happier here, feel safer, and their grades are improving. I've taught in more reputable schools and have never felt the open arms and consistencies as are here at Franklin! We are moving up!

everyone always stereotypes franklin. but in reality they dont go and actually live it up at FCMS. its actually a really great school. im proud to go there. im in power excel and we do things harder and better than other schools. even though our area is judgemental no one sees the enviroment inside of the school. its actually pretty wonderful.

Although test scores are steadily improving, this school has a reputation as being low-performing. The truth is that there are excellent, committed teachers and staff who dedicate themselves to the students. Many students need a great deal of support and attention, and there are numerous ways for them to get help from the school and outside agencies. The school is improving through many reforms by adding electives to the already strong art, computer, and music classes. There are opportunties for remediation in Language and Math, when needed. It is a school on its way up in Long Beach!
