Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

As a parent of twins with Autism finding the right school to meet their needs has and will always be my priority. The last 4 years at Twain has been outstanding. The teachers, principal, counselor, etc have always been supportive of my children and their special needs. I could always talk to them about needs and issues that were developing and we worked together to ensure my children had what they needed to be successful. The schoool always includes kids with special needs in any and all activities that the regular ed kids were doing. This made my children and I feel like part of the Twain family. I wish my kids could stay at this school until 12th grade with same wonderful staff that has helped them developed in so many areas during the past 4 years.

Wonderful neighborhood school! Only downside ~ it only goes up to 5th grade. Great PTA - well organized! Tons of Parent Volunteers on a daily basis. The Principal and the Teachers really care about their students. Life is a bit easier since students have to wear uniform. ; )

Mark Twain elementary school is a gem! A lovely, old Mission-style campus with it's original bell tower and grounds provides a scenic and historic place for our children to learn. All of the teachers are motivated to provide the highest degree of education and development for our kids. I feel Twain is unique in it's desire to show our children the great importance of honoring our Veterans through our annual Veteran's Day tribute. Twain is family-centered in all aspects of learning and relies heavily on the tremendous amount of parent participation it receives from the community. This makes it very easy for me as a parent to stay involved in every facet of my son's education. We feel very blessed to call Mark Twain home.

Its a community school with children from the area with a great team of teachers and parents involved as a support team for the bettor of the children. We as parents bilieve that the teachers alone can't do their best. When you structure a back up team of parents involved with the school them you have the perfect fit. The school is going to be like Mark Twain a perfect school.

This is a school where the principal, the faculty and the staff go beyond expectations to create a supportive and successful learning environment. The parents are involved, committees are strong, and the school went 'Green' in 2007, with an all-campus lunchtime recycling program. The school also now has gardens, acting as an outdoor classroom. People who attend this school feel like they are truly a part of a family.

The teachers and principal at my daughter s school are always working towards improving the type of education that the children receive by always making adjustment s to the curriculum. Also they try incorporating environmental education by adding programs such as encouraging recycling and by having students volunteer at lunch and help sort the recyclables example: milk cartons.

We were extremely impressed with Prinicpal Ryan (have you seen her do the limbo?), the office staff especially Mrs. Chesler, and the teaching staff. In Mrs. Corn's kindergarten class our son was challenged and loved. Parent involvement is high with options for working parents to contribute. We could not have a more positive experience. Go Frogs!

MY husband and I just love this school!!! Our son attented his elementary years here all throughout and he is now in Middle School and was identified as GATE student. This school strongly empahasizes on Academic Excellence . They have an over all high Test ratings at all times. They prepare your child to be better students when they come out of elementary. It is a Distinguished Blue Ribbon Recipient and they stand for it every year and we as parents couldn't be more proud! Go, Twain!!!

Great K-3rd teachers--they cluster together the various levels of learners and give all appropriate work and assignments. The rigor just isn't there for 4th-5th grade teachers. The 4th and 5th grade teachers seem to use the same lesson plan for all children as through every students succeeds at the same rate and level. My son was always told to do his homework in the 4th grade every single day when he breezed through the classwork--the same thing is going on, now, in 5th grade. Again, the K-3rd grade teachers are wonderful, but the 4th-5th grade teachers, I'm sorry to say, are disappointing. -Frustrated Mom and Teacher

Academic Programs are strong. Heavy emphasis on testing. Some cutbacks in extra-curricular and in support staff expected in 2005. There seems to be a core group of very involved parents and a multitude of parents volunteering occasionally in the classrooms.

Parent participation is very high. Many moms walk their kids to school and you see alot of parents waiting with their kids in the courtyard for the bell to ring. Also, waiting list for kids to transfer from the surrounding areas is very long. Many don't make it in. I think this is one of the most beautiful schools in the area. It has such beautiful archictectural features with an old bell in the tower that they ring every Friday.

Both of my daughters have attended Twain from 1st grade (4th and 5th graders now.) The quality of teachers is above average at each grade level, in the gifted program and in the regular classrooms. The teachers set high achievement goals for the children but help the kids reach these goals. The teachers are enthusiastic and receptive to parents concerns. We are very pleased with this school and highly recommend it.
