Both my daughters attended Covington from Kindergarten. Now they are in middle school and my oldest daughter was just admitted to an elite private high school for next year. I credit the outstanding education they both received at Covington. They are both academically strong in all subjects. In each grade there was project based learning that integrated all subjects and turned them into superb writers and gave them the ability to present incredible oral presentations using technology. They always felt safe at school and our whole family enjoyed all the fabulous programs: Junior Olympics, Walkathon, Multi-Cultural Festival, Science Faire, Book Faire to name a few. Most importantly we have a very close community in our neighborhood because all our children attended our neighborhood school. I can't emphasize enough how this has become the bedrock of our lives, offering lasting friendships for the whole family! Neighborhood schools are one of the finest characteristics of raising a family in Los Altos. Both my husband and I developed relationships with our neighbors who also had children at Covington who will now be in our lives forever! We will always be Covington Coyotes!
My daughter has been at Covington for over a year and LOVE LOVE LOVE her school, teachers, and staff. I agree with her whole heartedly. Ms. Green the principal is a strong leader who ensures a safe and positive learning environment for all the students. The teachers all bring extensive experience, are highly educated, and are sensitive to student's individual needs. It's amazing how they all flawlessly execute a challenging and well balanced curriculum to a fine group of happy and successful students. The school staff and parent participation are simply stellar which attributes to the all around excellence of this school. We transferred from a small private school with reputable academic achievements and was initially concerned about whether or not a public school could offer comparable quality. It's a pleasure to share our transition has been seamless and extremely positive and I would highly recommend this school to my friends.
Our son is is third grade at Covington with our daughter starting next year. Best school you can think of. Great principal, staff, community, location and what not. You feel good when you drop off your kid in the morning and pick'em up in the afternoon.
The curriculums at this school is not the same as before perhaps due to budget cut. Some teachers remain wonderful but some still need improvement. The principal's leadership is really lacking, she tend to be so busy chating with certain parents about her daily outfits instead of getting to know her students. Unfortunately principal's leadership sets the tone for the entire school.
Great school! Very safe environment.
The teachers at this school are outstanding. We tried a private school in the area and realized our mistake. The community and the teachers at this school are truly special and we strongly recommend this school.
Quality of teaching is uncertain. Poor quality of communication with the principal.
Covington has very ballanced curriculum. My children's first grade teachers are very good. Especially, this school has very dedicated and excellent ELL teacher.
Covington is a terrific school. My son has been attending since kindergarten and is now in third grade. He has had tremendous teachers and classmates. My daughter is starting school next year (2008) and my wife and I could not be more excited.
This is our first year at Covington and so far I am not too impressed by it. The curriculum is very average, the principal leadership is lacking so are the quality of teachers. I find the only thing that is keeping this school in order are the parents involvement at school and home.
