My daughter is in her second year here and loves it so much she has asked to go to pinewood until "there are no grades left". The staff is loving and attentive and teachers are top notch and well loved by students. The extracurricular activities are amazing- art, PE every day, Spanish, social studies etc...The kids have a sense of community, self worth and ethics. My daughter is currently two grade levels ahead in math and language arts and I haven't had to pay for any tutors or special programs to get her there. I am so glad to have found this school and would recommend it without hesitation to anyone!

Our daughter is just finishing her kintergarden at Pinewood. She just loves the school and it is great to see her look forward to school every day. They have done a great job with reading, math and science. They make kids do a musical program or play every year which is amazing in what the kids do. I love the teachers and all in all this is a very nurturing place. My daughter has just 4 other kids in her class!

My daughter came to Pinewood from a non-academic play-based preschool, and thay've done a great job of her transition to a more structured environment. She's reading the early Dr. Seuss books within 6 months, and has picked up the maths very well. What's more, she loves it and does'nt say its 'boring'. They have PE, music, and art everyday - a great balance with the academics. The teachers are loving and attentive. They focus very well on the individual personality types of the kids, and handle them accordingly. My daughter loves them. She says that Pinewood is the best school in the world ! I think this is a great place for a child in their early years. It develops a love for school and learning, which I think is exceptional, and I have not found any school in the area which matches it in these respects.Thumbs up !

I switched my son from one of the 'rigorous academic' private schools he had attended for pre-school, kindergarten and first grade. Couldn't have made a better move. Academics on par (and in some areas more in depth) with what we left but the kids and parents are happier and far more friendly. This school caters to teaching the 'whole' child...sports, art, music, foreign language as well as the basics. Director and Principal stress community, family and respect for self and others. Plus, they accept parent input unlike school we left!

We attended the lower and middle campuses for many years, but left due to an increasing lack of confidence in the school and the new principal. Academics are average for a private school (slightly better than the good local public schools, but weaker than well-known rigorous private schools in the area). Academic strength is the emphasis on grammar, however writing and math are surprisingly deficient. Unfortunately, the administration has not changed with the times in the past 40 years, is extremely resistant to change, and is not responsive at all to parent concerns, despite their reassuring comments and promises. Some fantastic faculty members, a few incompetent ones. Resolution by the school of social conflicts between students is disappointing. The overall school community of parents and students has a country-club feel.

Great academic environment for young children. Small classes and very involved parents. A family environment.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
