My kids have attended Canterbury since K and 1st grade, they both love the school, teachers, students, curriculum and activities at school.

Bishop Johnson LOVES God and it comes through in his chapel lessons. My daughter has such a vibrant understanding of God and her faith as a result of attending Canterbury. My daughter is in second grade and her cursive is better than many adults. :-)

Outstanding Christian School with small classes, dedicated teachers, and a great feeling of community. We have children in both Kindergarten and 1st Grade and they both love going to school. Our family appreciates the high academic standards, but are particularly excited about the school’s emphasis on Christian education. We want our children to have a high moral character and be intellectually challenged; Canterbury balances both.

Handles bullying effectively: Strongly agree

There are no bullies in this school. I imagine they would be immediately dismissed.

I have brought up two minor speech issues with my 1st grader that were immediately addressed by his teacher.

Effective school leaders: Strongly agree

The school is lead by a dedicated Christian team with no unnecessary overhead.

Unrivaled Christian education that builds very strong character and respect in the hearts of all Canterbury children.

Teacher effectiveness: Strongly agree

Very experienced teachers with VERY low turnover. These teachers are at Canterbury out of a passion for teaching God's children.

Amount of homework: Strongly agree

My child in Kindergarten reads with us at home and our 1st grader has 20 minutes M-TH. No homework on the weekend.

This is a very small school tucked into a residential neighborhood. There is one class per grade and class size can be a small as a handful of students. So children receive very close instruction but sacrifice a larger space to play in. At Canterbury there is low teacher turnover and families tend to stay in the school all the way through sixth grade. As a result, they have a small but very friendly and cohesive community, with high parent participation. The whole school works together at school events to make them successful. If you want your child to have an academically rigorous and structured Christian education that challenges children to do their best, this is the school for you. The homework load in the upper grades is pretty large and children are very well prepared to think and write for middle school and beyond. They do a good job with the small space they have and offer extras throughout the year, Opera a la Carte, Latin, Handbells, Choir, Chapel, field trips. The price for a good private education is very reasonable.
