My son was so shy and sad going to school....it took two years of tears before he went to school carefree. The teachers were patient and loving with both of us. We found a warm, caring environment, just what he needed at the time, while going through some hard times. They embraced my son and made sure he stayed in this environment even when I considered public school. They really have the child's best interest at heart My son graduated from Kirk but his brother will attend the school and it will always be close to our hearts....a second family.

Kirk o'the Valley is a treasure. A real community where the teachers truly care about the kids and the parents are welcomed with open arms. My son literally never wants to leave. He is in PK and he's learning spanish, music, art, computers, has a reading readiness coach, plus just a great fun atmosphere for him to develop as a kid who is part of a community. Thank you Kirk!

I looked at many schools in the area before I finally settled on Kirk. It was their creative, well-rounded approach to education that won me over. Kirk nurtures the individual, unique spirit in each child while providing a great education. I am pretty sure the teachers at Kirk have found a way to magically squeeze more hours into the school day! At the end of a busy week, when I talk to my son about what he did (reading, writing, math, science, engineering, computers, karate, yoga, basketball, library, music, art, cooking, and more) I can't believe how many wonderful experiences he has. The school also places an emphasis on developing character and citizenship. My son started with just a few hours a week at the Tot Center and loved it so much he went to Preschool 5 days. He is now in Kindergarten and asked me the other day "I am going to get to be at Kirk all the way to 5th grade, right?" Don't take my word for it. Take his.

AWESOME! I drive from Simi Valley to Kirk O' The Valley School for my two preschool students, ages 2 and 3 1/2. We love the community feel at Kirk and the fact that Spanish, Music, Library and Art are included in the tuition plus a wide variety of after-school enrichment classes as well. I can recommend Kirk O' The Valley with 5 stars to anyone interested. My older children, ages 10 and 12 also attend their awesome summer camp, KKamp. Educational Adventures are their goal, getting my kids away from video games and T.V. Camping and Nature themed activities that keep all my children's interest combined with caring, responsible, qualified teachers make Kirk School a winner!

This is hands down the best school in the valley! I cannot say enough about the quality of care, attention and devotion the teachers and staff have to the children! My daughter attended Preschool here and she LOVES Kirk. She only attended three days a week and often asked to go all five days! Sadly, we are not able to afford continuing her for Kindergarten and I know it will be hard in public school because we are spoiled after Kirk! For the quality of this school the tuition is phenomenal!

Really this is a top notch school that is a hidden gem. I am more impressed with this school than the $30,000 privates around the Valley. They provide; Singapore math, computer lab/teacher, Spanish, Science lab/teacher, art teacher, PE coach, yoga and karate on alternating Fridays, rigorous academics without ridiculous amounts of homework, fieldtrips, many extracurricular activities and too many school events to list. However, I think the most noteworthy thing is that nearly everyone is incredibly friendly, warm and caring. They really take the time to know your child, from the parents to the teachers. Kirk is a remarkable school. They even have a small organic farmer's market weekly. As my daughter put it "I am learning 100% more than in public". We love this school and it is affordable!

My son is now 4, and started at Kirk when he was 2. Overall, it has definitely been a positive experience. The teachers are warm, supportive, and have lots of wonderful experience. I am so thankful to have found Kirk. I feel that my son is getting a wonderful education, and I am considering Kirk for Kinder and maybe grades 1-5. Their tuition is definitely affordable, and one of the most reasonable in the valley. I feel comfortable with my decision to send him to Kirk, because I know he is safe. Wonderful community of families, and all of the kids are adorable. Great school!!! Would recommend to anyone in search of a school.

When we went to the first interview my 5 year old didn't say a word, we went for a second interview and again not a single word. The teachers at Kirk took the time to visit his preeschool and see him 'in action'. The philosohpy of Kirk is just amazing, their dedication and academics are impecable. this is an excellent affordable private school. My son is really happy. They have this 'caught being good' and good citizen rewards that teach them to be better persons.. Overall 5 stars!!

need more room to share: Because of all I had been through with 'other' schools, my expectations upon touring this school were severely lowered. I was planning to put my child through home school, but didn't like the idea due to his not having any siblings, and I don't know if I would be the ideal Kindergarten teacher. The philosophy was attractive, and my son was invited to tour the school. We did, and I saw a lot of changes and emotions of my son with that two hour visit alone. Jerry grew up so quickly that year, and transformed so much out of this fearful child with separation anxiety to a very confident boy who speaks his mind and has a lot of ideas. Even his reading skills improved; from resisting to carefully sounding out the word well. Thank you, Kirk

When we were looking for a elementary school for our son, we did a lot of research. We wanted a school that provided a well-rounded education and promoted good values. We were sold by Kirk's excellent KG program and we've been happy since. As others have said, this is not an exclusive private school with sprawling grounds and numerous facilities; but they more than compensate for it by their program. It is academically challenging yet supportive of each child's strengths and abilities, constructively disciplinary, racially and economically diverse, and offers extra-curricular enrichment. The Principal and her staff support the teachers in understanding trends in education and applying what makes sense. Moreover the teachers love working at this school and it shows in the way they care for our children. Our 2nd child is in pre-school at Kirk and will continue onto elementary. And this is testament enough!

When it was time for my son to go to pre-k, I looked at our local school and many alternatives in our area, including charter, magnate, and private. The moment I found Kirk I felt profound relief. The atmosphere is supportive, positive and children thrive both socially and academically. Wonderful enrichment programs are provided on site. I now have a child in pre-school and my son is in 2nd grade. I feel the staff are well supported, the principal is an excellent leader, always keeping her eye on improvements in education in every area and giving the school its positive feeling, and the mix of students is impressively broad. Definitely not an exclusionary private school. I have yet to be disappointed and feel very fortunate to have found Kirk.

This is my sons first year at Kirk and I couldn t be more impressed. Before picking the school I visited many other area schools and was not impressed. Then I found Kirk. When I came to Kirk for the first time I couldn t even believe how much better the school was then anything else in the area. Not only do they retain staff, but they have programs that stimulate my child. Every week my son goes to computer class, Spanish class and he even participates in a cooking class. He has grown more developmentally over the past 7 months than ever before and I plan to keep my son in the school for several years. The last thing I will say about Kirk is that it doesn t feel like a school, it feels like a family. The teachers, faculty, parents and other children care what happens at Kirk.

My son has attended Kirk since Kindergarten and we could not have placed him in a better school. The teachers and staff are the best. He is now in the 4th grade and because of the nurturing and caring environment and excellent education he is receiving at Kirk we could not recommend it more.

We love KOV! We have had our son there since mommy & me ( he's now in 2nd) and we couldn't be happier. Every time we think we can't afford a private school something happens that reminds us why we are here. Can't say enough good things about the Kirk Community!

This is an amazing school. Both of my children have been there since they were 2 years old. They are in K and 2nd now and just LOVE going to school. The teacher to child ratio is amazing, especially in Kindergarten. It allows each child to get individualized attention when they most need it. It's a nice balance between developmental and academics. I can not say enough about how outstanding the school is.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
