The best part of Ribet use to be the kindergarten program. This year the kinder program has been downgraded immensely. Wonderful, experienced, teachers were replaced with inexperienced, less costly staff. The teacher to student ratio increased and the enrichment and activities that made the kinder program the amazing program it once was are all gone. After just one month into the school year two families have left.
Amazing that this school has any accreditation. This school has no direction and offers little anything more a big bill
This school is HORRIBLE! They need a new admin asap or that school is going under! You have to see it to believe it!
At the school a year now and really happy we're there. Great staff and a terrific community atmosphere. We left public school and the cost was tough to swing, but so far really well worth every cent.
Ribet finally got it right! The change in administration is amazing! I think the other parents feel the same. The new principal is awesome! She holds the students accoutable and they love her. She makes a point of getting involved in all of the activities. Great change in the athletic department as well. New positive energy going through the school. My family looks forward to many more years at Ribet Academy!
My daughter started preschool this week and absolutely loves it! I hope that she continues to fit in and make new friends.
My duaghter has been attending Ribet since Kindergarten, she is now in 4th grade and I am impressed with her eagerness to learn. Each year she has a renewed sense of wonder as it pertains to the subjects at hand. She loves this school, loves her classmates and teachers. Ribet fosters a great environment that allows kids to really thrive in part because they are each treated as the individuals that they are. I couldn't be happier with her continued desire to learn EVERYTHING she gets her hands on. From math, reading, comptuer/science to guitar, she is overall very happy to be at this school. Ribet has been a great investment in my kid's education!
I have been in this school for about 3 yrs , I am very satisfied , on my child's education ,
We have been at Ribet for two years and are very pleased. Our son loves school and his teachers (K and 1st) have been fantastic - accessible, caring, and very responsive to our son and his needs/strengths. Ribet is cost-effective and you cannot beat the small class sizes.
Sour grapes is sometimes all some can say, I believe Ribet is a great school and doe's a great job of trying to help all of it's families out. I speak from experience we have had a financial downturn, but the staff and Headmaster have really worked it out for my daughter to stay put and I am very greatful. There is definitely a small town feel to the school right in the middle of one of the world's biggest cities, AWESOME. Keep on trucking RIBET !
My children have been going to Ribet for a few years now. I am continually impressed and pleased with this school. The staff are very invested and very open and receptive to parents. I am very happy with this school. I love that the class sizes are small and that you really get to know everyone in the class. Teachers and kids from other years will know your child, and I like that it has a very small town vibe. I love the other parents that we have met and feel we have an excellent community. There will always be one or two families who are not happy.. But that is true for life no matter what you do you cant please everyone. Fortunately we have a choice, we continue to choose to go to Ribet. I have found that any time I am am unhappy or have a concern the staff and school respond very very well and try to fix it. They are very open and receptive. Of course there are some parents who will always keep your problem to themselves and dont tell anyone, other than to moan on a website. My children have thrived here, academically and socially.
Sending your children to a private school is a big deal these days due to the state of our economy and everyone's financial situations. One would think that Ribet would offer a fine education given it's name....college prep. This school does NOT produce students who are ready for college. We wasted our time and money at Ribet. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a school that will give a proper education.
For two years now, my child has had a wonderful experience at Ribet Academy. The pre-elementary staff is wonderful and the support ffrom the parents is tremendous. My chidl came from a montessori preschool and when she came here she was challenged and grew. I love her two teachers and the entire staff from preschool to high school. I got involved in teh parent club volunteering and going to many events on and off campus. It has been a wonderful experience so far and my child does not want to leave her teachers or friends she has made at this great little school. I assure you that your childs education is secure and worth it here at Ribet Academy.
My child is currently enrolled as a senior in high school. Just recently, he has applied to over 35 UC's and Cal States. The college counselor was extremly helpful in instructing him during the confusing admissions process. His older brother also graduated from Ribet Academy and now is attending UCLA. Not only has he been accepted to ALL of the schools he applied to, but he has receieved numerous amounts of grants. The school was very helpful in making the students knowledgeable of these scholarship oppurtunities. No doubt, has the academic experiance at Ribet Academy readied my child for the riggorous academics at such a prestigous institution. Ribet Academy was a perfect fit for both of my children. If you are interested in a strong well-rounded education, send your child to Ribet Academy.
What a horrible experience it was been. Admin. staff are rude and cold and for them its all about the BOTTOM LINE: money. If you are not current on your tuition, your child cannot attend school.
We left Ribet and regret ever sending our kids there. This school was a nightmare for my children. The teachers did not teach and expected students to learn from doing workbooks without any instruction. The teachers did not even know what the state standards were for the grade they were teaching. I have spoken to a lot of families who have left and they all say the same thing, "Our kids were considered BEHIND grade level once they entered public school." Is this what you expect from a college prep school?
I was a bit apprehensive when my daughter first entered Ribet, but found it to be a perfect fit for her. The relationships between the students and their teachers is a close one and there seems to be a lot of respect for one another. The academics are demanding, but the arts are also well-taught and respected. She received a very good education, tailored to her needs, at Ribet. I would recommend the school for children of all ages.
Ribet has a very low standard for student behavior. The kids are allowed to use foul language in front of little kids and adults and it is completely tolerated. Kids bully each other and the school looks the other way. The middle and high school girls come to school with super high heels or extremely sexy outfits and nothing happens to them. What is worse is that Ribet is a pre-k to 12th grade school. The small children look up to the bigger kids and view them as role models and want to emulate them. Do we send our kids to a private school so they can be exposed to things years before they are ready?
I graduated from Ribet last year. I cannot say I got the best education. Most teachers at Ribet don t have their credential and don t know how to teach. Some of the teachers just hand out packets and expect the kids to learn the material on their own. One of the darlings of the administration spent his time yelling and mistreating the kids. We complained about him but nothing was done. I don t know how it is for the other grades, but the high school at Ribet is mediocre.
Academic but not old school. The faculty is AMAZING. There is daily yoga in Pre-K and K! Grass, a garden, a playground, a track, a football field, tennis courts, a gym, a marine biology lab, a moot court and a theater. There is choir, orchestra, and band. Art is HUGE at Rib t. Walls are covered in students' works. A darkroom, potters' wheels, and a kiln. Champion debate teams for both middle and high school. The most decorated school in the history of The LA Science Fair. "Science Teacher of the Year" in CA. The basketball team won their division and went to state. One player won the 2010 John R. Wooden Award. 1st grade: 1 teacher to 12 kids. 100% of the students go to college. USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, Stanford, Berkely and Harvard. Very convenient for people in Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, Atwater, Mt. Washington, and Eagle Rock. My daughter (1st Grade) comes home filthy every day and wants to go to school every morning.
