We love St. Anastasia School. The academic and sports programs are excellent. The parents and students are held accountable for bad behavior and there is a good community feel to St. A.
Strong academics and Catholic identity. Phenomenal parent involvement, well beyond the required service hours. Emphasis on older students helping the younger students through a "school family" program. Opportunity for involvement in fine arts through Gateway to Art program and in performing arts through school musicals, Shakespeare plays, Performing Arts Showcase. Students participate in school science fairs, judged by LMU students, and have opportunity to go on to Los Angeles County Science Fair. Graduates are well prepared for college prep high schools, and enjoy a high acceptance rate to these schools.
Loving Christian environment with emphasis on spiritual development of child, competitive academics, comprehensive sports program from grades 3 to 8, and incredible parent involvement with numerous, varied enrichment activities in arts and leadership. Extraordinary value for the low tuition.
This school provides a safe, positive, and disciplined learning environment for the children. The parental participation is outstanding and the overall feel is one of a large, supportive family. The staff is excellent and the children are well-prepared for the high school of their choice.
This school is scary for some children. There is too much homework and the teachers are mean and unapproachable. It is also boring and uncreative. Detentions are given out freely. Too many sports so not suitable for geeks. The same kids are rewarded over and over. Positive reinforcement does not exist.
St.Anastasia is a lovely school with most students willing to learn. The school's academics are mediocre, but a great emphasis is put on sports, maybe a little too much. The students are primarily concerned with their social lives and going to the 'best high school'. overall, the school is very nice and contained.
Extremely academic. Students well prepared for high school and get their choice of private high schools. Good parent participation. Administration always open to parent concerns or opinions.
Parental involvement is quite impressive, but it doesn't equate to excellence in curriculum or student achievement. It's parochial education with less emphasis on learning but more on overall well-being of the child. No differentiated learning opps available for high achievers or those with any type of learning challenges. School has great potential, but mediocrity, unfortunately, is the norm.
Strong academics. High parent involvement. Sometimes too academic, not always remembering to think of the whole child.
I have found that the students are behind those of their peers. This may be as a result of a small school which they must teach to the middle. My daughter entered in teh seventh grade and was taught out of the same text books as she had in the sixth grade.
