This is really the best school in the area. You will not regret coming here. Teachers help you succeed and if you need extra help, they give you many extra classes. Every student is pushed to be proficent and advanced and most students are either way already proficent. Teeachers are always on your case if you have bad grades or need help on anything and they are friendly. We are "Collge Ready, College Bound". The school is safe for everyone and no one ever gets beat up. Our principal is the best because she helps us achieve any thing we want and is very kind. In eighth grade they have many high school option workshops and they help you apply to any high schools of your choice.

The food is not a problem at all. They don't allow jubk food and there are many activities you can get involved in. The teachers, staff, and principal, are nice and push us to try harder on everything we do. Our school has smart students and A's are hard to get. even if you are advanced, they tell you what you can improve on and if you nee help they are always there for you.If you slack off andwant to work at msDonalds, this is not the right school for you. Teacher quality, principal leader ship and parent involvement are excellent.

Thank you for telling us of the problems of Junk Food and the vendors. The Obesity Epidemic is because of these problems! Vendors take advantage of children coming out of schools. Section 42 of the LA City: 10) Prohibited conduct. (a) No person shall vend from a food vending vehicle which is stopped, parked or standing on any public street, (1) Within five hundred (500) feet of any school property... I hope you can help the school stop the illegal vendors. We need "Healthy Kids, Smart Kids"! [This is a book by Yvonne Sanders-Butler, ED.D.] The Surgeon General recommends 30 of Physical Activity per day which does not include recess.

Two of my daughters have attended this school. From kindergarten through 8th grade. Teacher is worried about what they have always get good degrees and when are low as possible that make them better grades to derive type of intervention; for u.S. Is one of the best schools in this area.

I am strongly disappointed with the lack of healthy and nutritious food provided (coffee cakes, hot dogs, a serving of milk and juice with every meal, not enough fruit and veggies and is any of it organic?) and the lack of physical education. My child who is in 1st grade only received 1 hour of phys ed once a week! Shouldn't children receive P.E on a daily basis? CN claims to support healthy food choices yet their snack machines have cornnuts (highly salted and full of preservatives) and sugary gummy treats! On top of that duringspecial events they offer unhealthy foods such as sugary boxed juice, nachos and other such foods. And don't let me start on the street vendor dilemma--it is bad! Why is it that schools with a majority of Anglo children do not have problems with vendors selling junk in front of their schools!

Camino Nuevo is an excellent school, my child is fluent in reading and speaking Spanish and English. The children are given realistic goals for achievement and improvement and are rewarded for their contribution. I appreciate their incorporation of art to educate, though I wish there was more of this. Physical education is also available, but could use improvement. Perhaps yoga could be incorporated as not only a physical, but stress management and/or practice to aid in helping students focus and study better. Math is greatly emphasized and parents and kids are encouraged constantly to practice. Workshops as well as a newsletter with information of how to improve literacy and math are made available to all of us. Teachers are excellent; they care about the children's emotional health and focus on listening and communicating with children with respect and understanding rather than enacting an authoritarian disciplinarian

I have 2 children at this school and they love it. They have art, drama, piano and computers. Parents are very involved and are required to do at least 15 hrs. Of volunteer work.

I am a parent and teacher at CNCA. The education is top notch, teachers are dedicated. There are after school sports and dance clubs. There is good access to computer labs that is only getting better. The arts are a regular part of the school day (a refreshing change!) Reading and math are priorities at Camino Nuevo. Teachers teach these well. Science and social studies instruction should be improved. Teachers really get to know students well. In fact, the strength of CNCA is a strong adult-student connection. It is unparalleled by any other school known by me. Finally, parents are super involved. They volunteer, organize, and meet all without too much cajoling. Lastly, I am writing about CNCA Burlington site, although the Harvard site is just as good.

Camino Nuevo is a bilingual school (English & Spanish) that offers a great alternative to what the neighborhood schools offer. There is a great sense of community and the school focuses on social justice. Kids get dance and art every week as part of their classes.

About the tests


In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The different student groups are identified by the California Department of Education; if there are fewer than 10 students in a particular group in a school, the state doesn't report data for that group.
