My child has been there for 8 months and she has improved a lot on her grades. But I just dont think this school fits her though. They dont go out side much and they are all cramped up in small little class rooms. Im sure glad that this is her first year and only year. I dont think anyone should put there child in a school like that.

The curriculum is fabulous! The teachers and principal are caring and wonderful professionals who work with children regardless of whether they are behind academically.

The 6 years my child has attended Marcus Garvey have been great. The 10:1 ration has shown to be a very successful learning environemnt for her. She is at least 2 yras ahead of her grade level. The only downside I have found are the sports available to the kids, the shool focuses more on academics.

I continue to be disappointed. There is no parent involvement - i.e. PTA or programs parents can be involved in, the activites are focused on girls, and I've been disappointed with the quality of education. I feel that concepts are not being taught - only memorization. These children can do a lot, but they can't tell you why. I would not recommend this school

My kids have been attending Marcus Garvey for one month, and I truly see a great difference in their cognitive development. They have the desire to read and learn new information, although they are not academically on target, yet, but within the first year they will make a magnificent change. I will give quarterly updates and keep the children, teachers and staff in prayer.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
