It is a wonderfully nurturing school, while also helping the children grow their imaginations, ask questions, and think for themselves.
they have cool parents. also the directors are open and helpfully friendly. Halley makes the most beautiful things for the bizar and her husband valeo is about the best Dahrma Bum I know!
We love love OCS. A beautiful learning environment and a wonderful community.
The children at Ocean Charter School have grown up understanding that they are a community, that they are learning together and caring about one another. The parents are involved closely with every aspect of the the school experience, making the whole circle feel close and functional. The kids know that the adults around them are committed and it creates an incredible vibe: we are all building this school every day.If some aspect is not working, we will all address it together.
Ocean Charter School provides a wonderful community for us and our children. The classrooms are so inviting, the teachers are passionate. It's a magical place.
OCS offers a caring and nurturing environment and mind set for our children to learn and grow. The teachers are truly dedicated, multi faceted and engaged. The parents are involved and loving. The kids are precious.
Because they 'TEACH, MY GRANDSON WELL', and keep my daughter busy and out of trouble. Mother and son, learning together.
Rich with arts - the children paint every day, sing, play instruments. They garden, do community outreach, learn to knit, crochet, cross-stitch. A gentle play and arts-based curriculum. Because it's a charter school it's parent supported so there is huge parent involvement, wonderful community.
It's a great school where kids not only have excellent learning opportunities, but offers creative outlets in activities and lessons. The staff is exceptional and also has much needed parental support and participation.
I love the community of caring and thoughtful parents, the committed teachers and staff and the wonderful, respectful and exciting curriculum. I feel so lucky to be at this school!
My children not only learn about academics and art at Ocean Charter School, they learn to love learning, and thrive. It is an exceptional community of children, teachers, administration and parents.
I love Ocean Charter School's strong community and that the teachers help our children reach their potential both in their academics and in their characters - amazing!
This is such a wonderful school. To be honest I was planning on home-schooling my daughter up until I found this school. It is the only place I trust with the education of my daughter.
I love the philosophy. I did not seek out Waldorf, specifically, but I learn more each day about how creatively and brilliantly it builds a life-long love of learning. I love the size. We live in a big city, but at this school we are raising and education our children within a small, nurturing community of familiar faces. I love the commitment. You can 'feel' the difference when you know that something wouldn't 'be' if someone hadn't done it or donated it themselves. When you choose to send your child to a charter school, there is a whole new level of devotion to its success.
This school is not simply about academic learning and tending to our children's heads, but also to their hearts through connecting them to each other in a greater sense of community and caring for the world around us. It is a school that teaches kindness and respect for each other and the natural world.
Ocean Charter has an incredible group of involved parents helping to maintain what is already a great curriculum. With a focus on the arts and music, the lessons inspire creativity, problem solving, and environmental responsibility, while nurturing the whole child with a conscious awareness of each phase of growth. The teachers are excellent and always expanding their knowledge with summer workshops.
This school was very different from our local public school. It is personal, not institutional. It takes into account the child's point of view and needs. My first grader is learning Japanese, Spanish, knitting, flute, games and gets recess and free play. All the learning is done through art and songs and stories.
Ocean Charter takes a developmentally appropriate approach to it's curriculum. The teachers, staff and parents are there to guide the development of the child in a healthy and supportive way. By first nurturing a child's social and emotional being, the child will be more ready to grasp and integrate the academics as they grow.
