This school has gone downhill since late 2009. It used to be great, had great staff, good counseling and help in joining colleges but not anymore. ASLA used to consist of top of the line teachers that graduated from the most prestigious schools and 80% of them either left the school, got fired or transferred causing a decrease in learning retention. Since then (~2010-2011) those teachers have been replaced with newer "hip" teachers ranging from 21-30 year olds with the exception of a few older teachers that have earned seniority which all have great teaching skills with the exception of one (as of the 2011-12 year) the school offers college classes and SAT preparation classes along with a few afterschool extracurricular activites hoated by a group called "Champions" (none of these contribute to the students grade or academic profile) some of the programs offered are drivers ed, dancing, boxing, skating, video game club and photography. The quality of the food/lunch served is horrific and is served under a tent. this school has no dining facilities and is all open air as far as dining/play usage. 2 tents help as housing but it presents bad conditions.

This is a pretty good school when it is compared to the neighboring schools, but of course it does have it's faults. The full amount of class time is not used as efficiently as it could by several of the teachers, even though many students are willing to learn. Just like in any other school, there will always be those kids who are never able to focus, but the majority of the teachers are very dedicated and they love teaching. The counselors are always there to guide students and to provide them with opportunities to gain college credit and with AP classes. This is a great school where any student can start a club or join a team. Compared to other schools in the area, ASLA is indeed one of the best.

Overall Animo is a great alternative to many other surrounding public schools such as Washington Prep. The only thing I would improve within the school is that we have smaller class sizes so that we can have a more hands on learning experience

This school has high qualities and expectations for their students and wants them to achieve well. This school gives extra activities in school as well as college courses for college credit in school.

This is my son's 2nd year at ASLA. I am very thankful that there is a school of this caliber in my neighborhood. My son is receiving a superior education and on top of that he is surrounded by caring teachers, administrators and staff. If you are looking for a good school please take the time to visit first hand and see what ASLA has to offer your student.

I am currently a Junior at Animo SLA. I have been a Panther for all three years and will be the part of the second class to matriculate from Animo. I myself believe that the school is very great. Not only do they present challenging and new curriculum, with awesome teachers, they allow the students room to do more in the school. They actually encourage students to be innovative and participate in 'making' Animo. As in any founding school, we do have our faults, but every year I return the school gets better and better. They see what works and doesn't work and they actually improve are learning environment. Being part of the second-year class I was allowed to see Animo transform. I believe we have truly transformed both in our physical shape and curriculum and extra-curriculum layout. All in All, I could not choose a better school.

We are relatively new to this school but we love it. As a parent you have online access to your child's attendance records, assignments, grades, and even the balance is their lunch account. I have been offered many resources by the friendly and helpful staff. I look forward to my other child attending as well.
