I want to know from parents middle school how Village Glen West works with children who tend to mouth off and have ADHD. Are they equipped therapeutically? Anybody?

My son was diagnosed with Aspergers in December & luckily he was able to enroll at VGW in January. We have had such an amazing experience. My son is thriving academically, he has great group of new friends and above all he is happy and loves going to school. The teachers and administrators really understand him and helped him transition seamlessly. The curriculum is individualized o the student; great teacher to student ratio. I can't say enough great things about VGW.

My son attended VGW from grades 3 through 9. When he started, it was the only game in town for high functioning ASD children. While it wasn't a bad placement, I do feel the program is too large with over 300 students as of 2009, 3 different programs the academically advanced, diploma bound, and certificate of completeion student, and it doesn't spend enough time examining the individual needs of each child. My son was bullied by another student and the administration never remedied the problem; he was tested for reading comprehension in 8th grade and was at a 4th grade level (and had been at VGW since 3rd grade); when his 9th grade math teacher left on maternity leave 3 months before the end of school, 3 teachers replaced her for the last 3 months of the year/ There is a very high turnover of staff among administrators and staff.

A great place to work in. If you want experience in special education- teaching, OT, speech, counciling. Village Glen West is the place to be in. We have a great team of staff and kids we can learn from and teach to.

Taking a child who is on the Autism Spectrum and growing the skills needed to fit in the world and be happy is extraordinarily challenging. Village Glen West simply excels and has done wonders with our son.

My son was languishing in public school falling farther and farther behind academically and especially socially. Thanks to everyone at Village Glen West, he has progessed tremendously in all areas. Thank you Village Glen!

Before my son came to this school, he would not talk to his classmates and insisted that he did not want friends. He also struggled with the mindless lessons. Now he talks in class, has friends and is doing great academically.
